Cool! The K & N Typhoon CAI is now available for the G coupes. I have been waiting for ever for them to finish testing the system and they sent me an email today letting me know it's available.

I called and spoke with an engineer and he assured me that the system was stable for both AT's and MT's and that they had not encountered any issues with stalling similiar to the injen. He said the price direct from their website would be $349 retail but he said it should be around $250 from most distributers.

I know alot of you have injen already or the Stillen setup with the Z tube but I have had alot of good luck in past cars with K & N systems so I waited on my intake. Of course I haven't found any test articles yet on this system in our cars.

Any else seen anything? Guess I just may have to be a guinea pig for it, huh? Has anyone else tried the full CAI system yet? I will post some pics as soon as I can get one and get it installed. Later G-crew. [img]/w3timages/icons/cool.gif[/img]

P.S. I checked the website and for some reason the only part number listed for the coupe says "AUTO" in the description. Don't know if that means it's not available yet for the MT or not but the engineer told me the system works for both MT & AT. Guess I'll find out soon.

Yeah, I saw a post the other day with a picture of the install. But OMG, I can't find it for the life of me now! Any ideas? I totally forgot! Huh.... And do any of you guys know if they'll have the same problems with water intake?

I believe that the K & N has an optional mid-valve that can be purchased and installed mid pipe. The Valve has a pressure actuated valve that would open when it senses a huge pressure change (water getting sucked in), then the intake would draw air from the engine compartment in until the water was out. That's how it was explained to me. If I get it that will be one item I do get as well. Peace.

I don't know this, but I'm assuming that it's only available for the 5MT because of the stalling problems with the 6MT with aftermarket CAI systems. The intake is identical on the 5AT and the 6MT, so they should fit both. The only reason I can come up with, is the stalling issue.

Looks pretty cool. And supposedely other than that bypass valve they have that red was talking about, they have this screen that protects the filter from water. I think that would be perfect. I don't know how it works or what it looks like. Huh.. Maybe we should ask him to post some pics of the filter itself and the screen that he's referrign to.
