y do i get a rattling when not in gear and just sitting there when i press the cluch it goes away this has been a known problem on this forum...is this under warrenty or are they going to say there is nothing wrong...it is hard to hear unless your in a garage...i only have 8,000 miles
I had a rattling noise and it was fixed under warranty, but they only fixed it because my transmission was grinding gears as well... they told me "they didn't hear anything" when I had them listen to the rattle

This is a known issue. The rattling you hear is called clutch chatter. The actual rattling sound comes from the throwout bearing. I know its tough to say this, but the sound is normal. Its a poor design on the throwout bearing that causes this sound. Believe me, this sound is heard on every G35 6 speed ive ever been in or driven in, and is exactly the same on Z's, since they have the same transmission as us. The G35 is a very well designed car, minus the transmission/clutch. It is crazy loud, it clanks when not perfectly equalized, it chatters, and you hear every single thing thats going on down there. I dont know if any1 has seen an open G35 transmission, but it is crazy beefy compared to other trannies Ive seen. The synchros and gears are thick as all hell. Nissan sacrificed some luxury (quiet dampened transmission) for a strong transmission. It would of helped for the company who makes the transmissions for our G's and Z's (it isnt Nissan) if they R & D the tranny and clutch setup a little more for a more sophisticated one.
