A Wheel for Christmas..

Well this morning started out great and has steadliy declined. Now I will end up with a new wheel for christmas instead of a diamond tennis bracelet I wanted. I woke up in a great mood, took the puppy for a nice walk, sunny and 47 out, a little chilly but woke me right up. I'm driving to work in a great mood because I get to take my first road trip in the G to a San Diego Chargers game this weekend which is about 6 hrs away, looking forward to the drive. I look over at a newer white celica that has been next to me for a while on the freeway and the girl flips me off! WTF..I did absolutly nothing to provoke her, I was singing and if she could hear me I would understand ( I can't sing!) but no way she heard me, just random so I just shook my head and passed her ***! Then I pull into the new parking structure at work which is very narrow, there is a grand am comming at me and not much room for me, I get too close to the curb and as I turn I take out my rear passenger wheel. My window was down and I know he heard me yell some bad words!! So I park, take a deep breath and get out to look at it. It's really bad. The tire is okay but the wheel has about a 1/4 of the outter edge chewed up. I came into the office, called my husband crying and he said find a new one and I'll get if for you for xmas. I e-mailed Chad and hope he can help. I dont' want to go aftermarket or I would leave it, I really like these wheels. I called the dealership in Oxnard where I bought the car and the parts guy needs my VIN to quote a price...is that normal?
Anyway I'm sorry to vent but my wonderful day really went to crap.
I hope you all have a much better day!
Lisa

I don't think he needs the VIN number for a wheel.

If it is just curb rash, get the wheel refinished. It would be WAY cheaper than getting a new rim. 06 6MT, so you must have the 19"s. I've had my 19" rims refinished before and they came out great. Prices can range anywhere from $150 to $250 depending on how much repair is needed. But the OEM 19" rims go for like $900 a piece and is a grip on the finances, especially near the holidays.

infiniti has a tire and rim warranty package..if i remember it was an extra $400.00 when i bought my wifes 05 g-coupe.... she hit something on the highway ruined 2 tires and 1 rear rim..$1200.00 i payed only for an alighnment. it also covers aftermarket wheels with proper documentation..

Be cheaper to buy a set from the guys here than pay for one wheel from the dealer

I took the advise from you guys and called the dealer to ask about repairing the wheel. He gave me the name of someone in Valencia named Shawn (didn't get company name) I called him and he said he can repair it for about 100 - 150. depending on damage (sight unseen quote). He goes to Santa Barbara Infiniti about every two weeks so he will call and I will drive down there. It's only a little over an hour away. The dealer quoted me $944.00 for a new one. Thats my diamond bracelet!! I called my husband and told him to forget the wheel, buy me diamonds! I'll pay for the repair myself. He didn't seem to happy. lol. I actually think the wheel would have been cheaper for him! Thanks you guys for helping out. I drove my last car 8 years and never hit anything, six months in this one and already curbed it. And the G sits higher than my cougar did. Oh well that was my one blonde moment in this car..,No More Curbs!!

first of all, going to watch a chargers game was your first mistake. those guys suck and are only destined to lose the first playoff game again. haha

that sucks that being the better person and avoiding a collision costed you a rim. it aint cheap either.

Ewww... sorry to hear that but in the end it all worked out. You should have sought out that girl in the white Celica and beat the snot out of her to relieve your frustration - just kidding

Nah it's not about the money. Buying a wheel is much more exciting for a guy than going to buy a diamond bracelet

Well to be honest about the Charger game I'm actually more excited about the drive to San Diego and seeing my friends than going to the game. I'm not a big football fan but all my girlfriends are going with their husbands too. We went to a Lakers game once and had seats right in front, we girls were talking and drinking margaritas and some guys a few rows behind us asked us to trade seats since we weren't into the game. We did and our husbands just laughed at us. I am relieved that the rim can be fixed though, I get so mad when something happens to my car and this was my fault. Oh, and I will see the girl in the white celica again...it's a small town and I've actually seen her before. She will not catch me off guard again. lol.
