I think the 06 had the best upgrades (aka bang for the buck). However, I like the 05 the best due to all the cosmetic upgrades and the Rev-Up engine (better inards). The things on the 03-04 that was better then the 05+ were the Brembos and higher torque but both can be easily fixed with better upgrades (MREV+ will yield more torque and BBK will be better then Brembo's stock) but the true can't be said about 03-04's to the 05+, unless you have alot of time and money on your hands to change the cosmetic changes. So, my vote is for 06. I already changed the headlights so I'm already there

03-04 for me. Off the showroom floor, the 03-04 coupes have better track capabilities vs. the 05-up. Put an 04 vs 05 in an endurance race, the 04 will prevail because if the Brembo brakes.

Another consideration is costs. You'd have to spend more money to upgrade the brakes on the 05-up coupes to add to the heightend costs of buying the car. And power upgrades to the 03-04 to match the power of a stock 05-up is still cheaper than rotor/caliper upgrade to the 05-up coupes.

04 because im biased and brembos look soo good, i love when people ask if they came with the car and i tell them yes, but the 06 is definately a runner up with its projectors, bluetoooth, memory seats and everything else 05's got like the mp3 player 19 inch wheels rev-up engine, but without brembos the car is no longer striking, so even still today i would probably go for an 04 and upgrade everything else or jus wait for 08

i would have to say 04 and i dont say just cause i got it, but i like the ip/graphite to me that is the most important if not, i would probably go w/ 05 because of the little upgrade but it depends on whether the person wants auto or stick, because auto 05 is better than 04, but 05 stick (imo) is not as good as 04 because of the torque and brembos, jmo though

03-04 has brembos, torque, better spoiler (IMO) & ...cassette LOL
06-07 has projectors headlights, Bluetooth, newer interior design sport bumper & ...keyless go!!!

not trying to get anyone riled up but i honestly think 05 got the short end of the stick

& yes upgrading to Brembo calipers, pads, rotors, brake lines is about 3k or more ...its cheaper to gain the extra 18hp from 280 to 298

I have an 06 and love the changes to the spoiler, headlights, taillights, front bumper and interior.

but I would have to say 04 because of the color Twilight Blue, that color is just amazing.

Not to sound snobby, but lets talk about praticals, since we all started talking about costs and upgrades. How much is a BBK for our cars? lets see 4K for just the fronts maybe? How much did you already pay for your 05-07? no less than 33K I imagine now add the 4K and you will get a 04 which I paid 32910 for loaded with IP/graphite and nav and brembos. Personally the only thing I might want from a newer year that I cant get is probably the memory seats, bluetooth is useless to me, I have it on my bmw and I never use it even it works fine. Its simply easier to just talk on the phone, and you shouldnt while driving anyway, bluetooth or not.

still I think we have more of a 06 community

I love my '05, but I sure would like the memory driver seat. My wife is significantly shorter than I am and it takes forever to get the seat back where I had it after she drives.

04.
I could easily trade in for a newer year, but then I would have less torque and no Brembos.

I love my Brembos...was thrilled when I found out the 04 had them. Was very dissapointed that they have not brought them back these last couple years.

That's the main reason I have not upgraded...and the torque...I love the torque (what little there is), can't imagine having less to play with.

Whao, let's not get carried away with the prices here. But, since you started it, here we go:

You can get used Brembo's (if you would even want to get them since I'm sure most would rather get the BBK and not the OEM Brembo's) for about $1K used and MREV for about $600 (for the higher torque then the 03-04). So, $1600 is all it takes. Now, for the 03-04 to upgrade to the 05+, you would need to spend $1K for rims (Used), don't even know how much to upgrade the 18+ HP plus the stronger rodes in the engine but let's just say $1000, all the dash clusters and aluminum trim, MP3 radio (although you might as well just get something better), and Power seats (again, you may not like the power seats). I would say THAT would cost more like $4K (if you went with the OEM parts, etc.) So, if you want to talk about price, I think you made a bad point, you snob! There are elements of ALL models that are great STOCK but I think costs wise, you can easily get what the 03-04 has but the reverse can't be done as easily or cheaply. Now, they are both good cars, and depending on what you want (tracking the car vs. everyday driving), they will be the deciding factor. Like I said, I think the 06 is the best so far (just for the projectors alone, which I bought) and best bang or the buck.

^^^^^^^

hey man lets try to keep this a friendly thread we all love G's for different reasons. it sounds like ur taking this to heart.

i dont think IvoryGT was being snobbish
but 1k for Brembos no no no

if used 1k about 4k new ...just for calipers
$250+ for new pads
then another 500+ for rotors ...u cant use non-Brembo rotors u know
then more $$$ for brake lines
honestly ppl would rather go Brembo than another brand ...I think ppl only go with other BBK's because buying Brembos new are just not worth the $$$$ compared to other companies prices, u get same quality for less thats why so many use other brands, if they have a non-Brembo car

u said 4k for power seats? wtf
maybe i mis-read but do u think 03-04 didnt come with power seats? i have never seen a G without PS was this an option?

so far more ppl have voted for '06 & '05 but the 04 ppl are making all the noise
