Heater question

In the morning whe I go out to warm up the car, I turn on the heater and let the car warm up, I go back in the house and let it sit there for about 10 minutes, when I get in the car the air coming out of the heater is cold, until I drive for about 5 minutes the air starts to warm up,until then I have to freeze my butt off I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue before, because in my 240 when I do the same the heater is already hot, and its an older car. the question is on my 04 g35 incase you got confused. thanks

The most likely culprit is a bum thermostat that's stuck at least partially open. Another possibility is that your coolant level could be low and/or you could have an air pocket in the cooling system. Nissan V6 engines (for example, the one in my son's old 89 Maxima) used to be notorious for being hard to bleed air out of the cooling system. I have no idea if this is still an issue with the latest design, but this explanation fits the symptoms you're experiencing. It's also conceivable you could have a partially clogged heater core, but that seems unlikely in a vehicle that's only three years old. In any event, good luck in solving your problem.

When you get back to the car check the temperature gauge. The only way you would get warm air, is if the engine reaches normal operating temperatures and the needle in the temp. gauge is above C. And I believe I read in the manual to only warm up the car for 30 seconds or so. It said that the car warms up much faster while it is on the move (just don't drive it hard until it reaches normal operating temperatures) and letting it idle for more than few minutes is wasteful. Hope this helps.
