Merlin,
I have the same problem . . . grease is a good guess, but any thoughts on how to get it off (I tried windex)? I suppose I could make the dealer do it, but that's a hassle.
PS - what's with the different types of members on this site (enthusiast, member, addict, etc.)?
thx, jn

Yeah, I have the same problem with my windows. I went to the dealership and they said they had to replace the window sealent. So they replace it and the problem is still there. If you get it fix please post what was the problem.

Re: Weird streaks on windows
As Merlin said, the grease is on the inside of the door on felt pads that hold the glass in place.. I have a streak on my D/S window of my new Coupe. My hunch is that in a week or so and after wiping the window off a few times, along with the rubber seal that touches the window, that the problem with go away.
If it doesn't, you may need to take the panel off the inside of the door to clean up the excess grease. ( Or let the dealer do it). I would think that if the felt pads are too greasy that they cannot be cleaned well enough and should be replaced.
(at the dealer), Hope this helps..

Re: Weird streaks on windows
Speaking of window weirdness, has anyone noticed how long the inside of the door stays wet after washing the car?
I can roll the window down a day or two later and still have water on it when it rolls back up.
Should that concern us from a potential problem standpoint??

I've got the same problem. It's not grease. It is some sort of glue residue, or at least has glue characteristics. The dealer cleaned it off the windows for me – and claimed to have cleaned it off the felts, but it comes back. The dealer said it occured when my windows were tinted (dealer tinted windows). It supposedly will wear off with time.
Re: Weird streaks on windows
The tint companies do use a lot of solution when they do their work, you maybe correct and it is part glue and part soap from all the stuff they sprayed on the inside. Thanks.

Re: Weird streaks on windows
I had the same problem with the d/s window. The dealership informed me there was a service bulletin released on this issue.
They told me they will have to have to wipe the grease away from the inside of the window each time they put the window up and down for about 80 times.
They don't want to remove the door panel to do it, so it is just about an hour of labor.

Re: Weird streaks on windows
I was told at the Dealership that the streak is extra grease from the window roller mechanism. They said that it should disappear after the grease thins out. But they couldn't tell me how many freakin times I'd have to roll down the window to do that. Guess it's windows down all summer in Cali... = )
