Would you say I am a heretic for...

...thinking about an engine swap? Not too long ago I saw a video of a 240z with a corvette engine, wouldn't that be sweet? I am sure there are many 400+ engines that would fit in my G. Has anyone done it yet?

i think you should leave the LS1 swaps to cars with less creature comforts... such as FC Rx-7's, S13 and S14 240sx's and old datsuns. Putting one in a G would be a huge waste of money

Well, I had the Z06 in mind though. I drove one last Saturday and the thing is brutal! But I honestly think the Vette is sooo ugly. The G looks wayyy better than the Vette, I just love the feeling of driving the Z06.

yes, top secret has a twin turbo v8. kel has a project in progress with a twin turbo v8. personally, i'd like to see a rb36det or dett (R34 GTR) and a 2jz-gte (Supra) swap for kicks. both are probably not practical financially.

Turbo your car or nothing. there have been people whom have swapped in the RB26det and sr20's into our chasis, but those are huge wastes of money. there is also a 350Z in the drift world which has an ls1 as well, but why would you swap out american dog**** for japanese perfection? I know you get direct throttle response and power all in one, but come on, buy a corvette or a slowmarro if you want a big gm v8

the only advantage an ls1 is the hp to dollar ratio, but that school of thought flies out the window when you drop big $$$ swapping it in

as others have said, it seems like the cost, complexity etc. of going TT on your VQ, even fully building the VQ, would be less than a swap to another non-VQ engine. I know that there's a place in FL that does Supra engine installs/swaps into S2000's, so I'm sure you could put some other engine in the G. But it just seems like more trouble than it's worth considering you can get 400 + WHP out of the VQ with FI.

Would a swap like this not throw off the stock 51%/49% front-to-rear weight ratio of the G coupe, and thus affect handling and suspension?

I am sure it will, but as far as I know the Z06 engine is "relatively" light compared to other V8's.
