0-60 times with FI?

Hi all,
What kind of 0-60 times are you FI guys pulling? If you have 0-100 and 1/4 mile also that will be great. Can you please post times and mods?

what do 0-60 times matter? Most FI guys cant catch traction till 3rd gear, 0-60 is pointless. Quarter mile times do matter...

If you could not catch traction until third gear it will be idiotic to get F.I. Where did you get your facts from? Or is this only your assumption?

^ yeah wut he said...

depends on the type of FI, superchargers have a harder time keeping traction because of the instant power, where as turbo keep on the ground better.

chilibowl: he was jus curious what ppls 0-60 times where, it may not matter to you but it may to him

OK - ummm....No...

Turbo's get all of their power at about 3K or so, and it stays maxed out to the next shift point.

SC's get their power in linear fashion - they get full boost at redline, but most all of their TQ early.

Turbo's are the traction haters compared to SC's....

Like some people here stated, 0-60 times isnt as important as the 1/4 mile time/trap speed.

And yes, traction is an issue with street tires and SC'd or Tubo'd G's

.

The guy asked a simple question. Just answer it if you can. 30 people don't have to respond with the same nonsense, it will just get the thread off topic.

I have a Vortech...my friend has a Turbonetics. Mine is 5AT and his is 6MT. He has a really hard time tractioning up. I have an easier time.

I too would like to know what an average 0-60 time is...its hard to find these numbers though...there are a lot of variables involved.

People who have trouble gaining traction with 350-390hp cars are likely just mashing the accelerator and are not feathering the throttle very efficiently.

I am not saying it is the easiest thing in the world to do, but given the right pavement and some practice it isn't too terribly complex. Think about how many dozens of vehicles you can buy off of the showroom floor that have sub 5-second 0-60 times.

And I agree that 0-60 isn't a great indicator of how fast a car is, but hey, neither are about ANY stat when looked at alone.

Post them if ya got them!

Maybe there is no 0-60 times. Wouldnt you have to hook up to a lap top or something to get an accurate reading ?? where as 1/4 mile can be timed at most drag tracks that have the correct timing equipment. I mean how can you time within .5 of a second by looking at a stop watch and a speedo.

i've always wondered this too...
and i would like to know

the reason for me is that most of the websites/magazines i look at compare each car with 0-60 times
thats how i compare each car's speed too
i know that the avg. 0-60 for an 06 Z06 is 3.7.. and 3.2 for a carrera GT
4.8 for an M3.. and so on

notice how if one person says something negative in the beginning of the thread..
20 other people follow with the same comments in different words

if the first person replying to the thread says something nice or supportive
20 people would follow him saying the same things in different words.. or not say anything at all..

a lot of people do that on here

it's pretty annoying
