Can't feel the RE shifter
Just got my RE shifter installed yesterday; I've been driving about 200 miles and still can't feel the RE differences. Anyone experienced the same? The 12mm bolt under the car is said to be tightened at 10 ft-lbs; how tight is it? I just tried to tightened as much as i can. Does it affects the shiftting process? I just can't think at any part of the installation that I did wrong. To be honest, I can't feel the RE yet; any suggestion?

I just had it installed and the difference is noticible but it is not night and day difference... maybe it needs to be broken in or something.

i'm getting my RE shifter in today around 1ish. i'm glad i bumped into this thread...could anyone who have RE shifters come up and explain to us what the hell is going on??
|
Well the throws are shorter and it is noticible.. lol
I just think that RE shifter is the best out of all the other shifters for the G. |
do we REALLY have to jack the car up for us to reach the bolt underneath? is there a way we can get it from the top?
|
+1 if you can't notice the difference in noticing shorter throws are you sure you ordered a RE shifter? DId you all order from an authorized dealer?

ya Installed mine an hour ago it is night and day it is 10X easier if you jack the car up

Its only a 20% change in throws, thats not alot. The factory shifter is very good from the get go. Its not like putting a short throw in a mustang or camaro where the shifters are generally longer and sloppier.

Are you using the stock shift knob?
I'm using an aftermarket knob and everything sits a lot lower. I can rest my wrist on the center console and flick it to shift. |

quick question guys, I have an 06 coupe with premium package and I happened to be going through a g35 catalog I had from prior months and it said that with the premuim package, the car already has a short shifter which I had seen before but never payed much attention to.
Now I just got my RE short shifter in several days ago. is it worth it or am I looking at pretty much the same as stock short shifter? (no time to go research it as Ive been for a bit this morning and i need to head into work for a bit) thanks guys, -Russ |
About A Year Ago After I Did I Noticed It In The Ten Seonds Of Drving Also, Install It, Then Drive Around With It, Then After A Week Go To The Dealaer And Test Drive One With Out It Its Night And Day! Good Luck

If I were to pick up an aftermarket short-throw shifter, my main priority would be reduction in shifter vibration. Have any of you who have this installed noticed a decent reduction in shifter vibration?
|
yes my girl doesnt try and hop on it every second now. anyways yes it doesnt vibrate like it did before
|
i really wanna get the RE shifter but i heard it voids the tranny warranty
