Transmission bulletin??

Anyone heard of a "bulletin" discussing trans. failure? Just got back from service dept, they're putting in a new transmission Monday. Shifter was extremely loose (side to side) when in gear, and on the way to the dealer I put it in 3rd when I was aiming for 5th. I did this more than once. Car is 3 months old.

Re: Transmission bulletin??

I have done that 3rd instead of 5th thing a bunch myself. Very annoying. I am an experiannced high performance MT driver, so it isn't just me. I just figured it was a crappy design and it could be fixed with a short shifter, when they become available.

What did they say is wrong with it?

Re: Transmission bulletin??

They never said what was wrong with it. Just that they're ordering a new "and improved" transmission and that there is a "bulletin" detailing this problem but it's not a recall at this time.

Re: Transmission bulletin??

i just picked my car up from the dealer yesterday hopeing to get my tranny replaced due to grinding from 1st to 2nd. but they wanted me to repeat it and i could only get it to grind once and the tech said he didn't hear it. so when i can get it to repeat then i'll have to take it back up there for a replaced tranny.

Re: Transmission bulletin??

They want you to repeat it huh, Just grind gears then. I mean if I thought I needed a new tranny and they just had to hear it grind I would be grindin away. It's a little annoying that you have to show every little problem to a tech. I plan on spending quite a bit of time with one when I bring mine in so I don't have to hear them say, "oh we couldn't find a problem so we did nothing." Everything that rattles they will hear and any noises that the car makes I will make them sit there until it makes it. Ok, I'm trailing off now. Just had to get that out.

Re: Transmission bulletin??

Just got my G35 back and the new transmission rocks. Much shorter throw and much more accurate. If your tranny drops take consolation in that you're gonna get a free upgrade that's should have stock.
