Navigation oil change warning.

My navigation system is telling me to change my oil and oil filter. I am thinking about changing my oil myself but what I am concerned is this warning sign. If I still have to take my car to get this reset I might as well let the dealer do it for me. Does anyone know anything about this?

You can reset it yourself, well, I know I can, it's in your maintenance options when you press info... I think... You'll see it

I wouldn't recommend relying on that things default setup to tell you when to change your oil. If you mess around with the options under the "MAINTENANCE" section of the Navigation Menu, you will find a section that lets you set how many miles you want to have as your oil change and oil filter change intervals before it pops up a warning message on the Nav screen. I'm not sure what the default setting is, which is why I said not to rely on it. It might be set to something extreme like 7500 miles or it might be set to something low like 2500.

I have mine set at around 3400 Miles and I do use mine to remind me to change my oil in case I am not aware of exactly how many miles since my last change, but I also log the milleage of my changes and the date of the change in a little notebook that I keep in the glovebox. I try to rely on the notebook for when to change it, but the Nav is a good failsafe in case I for some reason failed to realize how many miles I was at.

You can reset the oil change warning in that Maintenance menu too just by highlighting it and then pushing in on the Navigation directional stick once. You'll have to reset it for both the Oil change and the Oil filter change, since they are seperate items.
