If you don't believe me, read your manual before making recommendations that will damage the paint of other board members. The manual states "using a mild soap ... mixed with clean lukewarm (NEVER HOT) water." My G35 is the fifth black car that I owned and I never had any problem with swirl marks. The trick is to wax often (approx. once a month), when washing, use at least two natural sheep hair or synthetic micro fiber mitts (rinse often - use one mitt for cleaner panels and the other for the rest) and never wash the car with hot water. Cold is better if the car is not too dirty, lukewarm if it is.

Hot water=swirl marks Um that make no sense??? Sorry my bother owns a body shop I know what I am talking about. How hot do you think the paint on a back G gets mid day in Miami in Aug due to the suns rays? A lot hotter then some tap water!

Upto you. Use whatever you like to wash your car. I'm just trying to help...
Also, you should never wash the car in sunlight or when the body is hot; wait until sunset and wash in the shade... By the way, my brother is an heart surgeon and I wouldn't give you medical advice because of this .

Use QEW (Protect-All Quick and Easy Wash) or ONR (Optimum No Rinse) for winter washing in the cold. They are no rinse products. Just put the proper amount in a bucket of warm or hot water, get a second bucket full of comfortably warm water for rinsing your brush/microfiber/lambskin mitts and go to town. No cold hands and can be done inside the garage. If you have any additional questions, go to autopia.org and do a search for QEW or ONR. No marring and works awesome. I started using QEW a month ago and it is great. No more trying to figure out how and when I can get my car washed in the winter.

Hot water has always been great for me and I have a black car with no swirl problems. In fact this is my 4th black car. I use the water right out of the water heater. I have tested the surface of my car at over 190 degrees here in Phoenix in the summer and the water from my heater is only about 105.

Bump!

At my brothers body shop they ONLY use hot water in the winter months and no customer has ever come back with a problem! This is like thousands of cars a year! Clear coats and auto paint are engineered to withstand extreme temps once they are cured. High and low.

What if you knock the wooden head of the broom too hard on the paint? Just use your hands.
