I just love the color, not too blue or too white yet with a hint of purple.

 

Anyone know what the stock bulbs for the 06 nissan maxima are? They seem to be almost purple...

All stock HID bulbs are 4300k. If there is any color, it's a result of a prism effect in the lense.

 

the maximas are E55 projectors, they are just aimed a little higher than say mercedes.

 

EverythingG35 had a group buy. 05 headlights, unless in perfect non-scratched condition, no more than 400.

 

maximas get the pretty projectors and the G's don't ...

 

Chad has had the best prices so far on the 06 headlights!

how much different is the philips 85122 vs. the philips 85122+ (4300k vs. 5000k)? Is it really that noticeable even after the 85122s have broken in? My 85122s have changed to a little more blueish white.


Does anyone have pics of their 06 projectors with philips ultinon 6000k bulbs?

 

IIRC, the maxima's projectors are low-beam only. I only mention this, because a lot of the popular projectors (colorwise) are low beam only, like the TSX projectors. The color is a result of the shutter inside the projector in combination with the lense. A Bi-xenon projector usually has a much bigger shutter, because it is actuated so it can give you highbeams by moving out of the way. I think this bigger shutter might make it so that in stock form it has less color in the cutoff, because it's not as sharp... (The E46 projectors I have, have a very thin edge at the cutoff, but the bixenon's I've seen are at least double or triple the thickness at the edge)

I have cars with three different kinds of projectors (TL, 06' G35, and E46 BMW). Both the bixenon projectors have the same color in the cutoff, both of which are much less color than the low-beam only E46 projectors.

 

actually the maximas headlights are bixenon ... their lense is more similar to the E55 bixenon projectors from MB. Our G35 projectors contain similar components to the FX projectors, but seem to be much fuzzier and soft then the FX's sharp cutoff.

Also note that the FX's headlights do not have much color either, although they do have more than the Gs.

 

a Colorshifted bulb has less lumen than a bulb starting out of higher kelvin( this is true of 4300k philips vs 5000k philips, can't vouch for others)
