Black Spots on OEM Rims
Black Spots on OEM Rims
Well, my OEM rims got these weird black spots on them and apparently from some acid that are in some wheel cleaners. I have had my G for 2 months now and was wondering what you guys think I should do about it. Should I try to take it back to the dealer and get them to replace them or is it too late? They showed up about a month ago and I have been trying to get them off but the just wont budge.
Here is a picture of the damage.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR RIMS!

Same here bro ..got em to going to start trying stuff also since I just bought my g a month ago.
I almost looks like the the tire dressing stained it some how since the clear coat/paint is still perfect on mine..well except for the stains.... lol????

well i dont know if this is going to help but i have the chrome 19" rims and one day as i was polishing them i notice a piece of the rim like about half and inch long and no more wider than half a penny on my rim was not chrome. at first i thought hrmm maybe no one will notice but the idea of my rim being that way just makes me un-easy so i took it back to the dealer. i told my service advisers and they had my rim replaced with no charge.
And there was this one time where i curb my rear right wheel. and there was about an inch of curb rash. so i looked around that wheel to find a defect.. and i did! so i took the car back to the dealer and they saw the defect and they replaced the curbed rim. NO CHARGE!
i have an 06 so everything is still under warranty. GOOD LUCK!

that looks like stains from tire dressing, take a look at in the inner wheel wells. If there stained too than thats most likely your bet. That stuff ruins paint too, eats it up
you or your carwash used an acid based wheel cleaner! I had the same ****, it will only get worse if you continue to use the wheel cleaner. I had to have all 4 of my rims refinished because of this.

I never have nor never will use wheel cleaner on my wheels.
Only the soap and water I use on my paint with a seperate wash mit.
Bet most wheel cleaners are'nt clear coat safe. That's why your wheels are Effed up.
Hard way to live and learn. Hope you get them replaced free, but don't hold your breath.
