Actually, that's not a half bad idea! The shop will have to eat the cost of painting you for a 2nd time around (you can be damn sure your insurance won't cough up the cash - instead they'll just insist that it be repainted and that body shop eat the cost). If it cost $4700 for them to paint it, then try to settle for some $$$ or an exhaust or something. The shop might be more willing to give you some products that cost them $2000 instead of eating the cost of re-doing a $4700 paint job!!

Did you check your door jambs. They should still be CB and doesn't fade in that area. I doubt they would repaint the jambs if only the exterior is keyed.

tell them that this will not fly and that they either have to repaint the whole car(sanding down the incorrect color first.) or paint engine bay, trunk and door jams plus give back cash because (important) you bought your car in its original color because that is what you wanted, not the current color. If they try and tell you "don't you like this color say "no, if I wanted that color I would have bought the car originally in that color

what's funny is that initially I wanted the car to be painted the 350z daytona blue.....also in response to someones post....I went to a geico approved shop...which means both the shop and geico guarantee the work of the shop for as long as I am owner of car (drips, peels etc.)...anyway will post many detailed pics in morning.

There is another possibility than that they painted the wrong color. From what I saw the last time I talked to a pro auto painter most factory colors these days are so variable that they get 3-4 different versions of some colors. Basicly there would be caribbean blue A/B/C/D. So maybe they picked the wrong version. I would let the insurance adjustor look at any mismatch to the jambs, etc. and decide whether a repaint is in order. You can always remind him that it will surely effect the value of the should you decide to get rid of it.

It looks neither like Caribbean or Athens Blue, but I like how it looks.
