Actually, I just re-read the large oil burning post and it sounds like the threshold for replacement is more than one quart every 1000 miles.

Alright this is a shot into the dark. I have put a oil catch on my car to catch any oil that is being sent to my plenum. I have found that I have to empty it back into my engine every three or four days since i drive pretty hard. It is the home made one form the forum. Maybe you guys should try it to see if this changes things. I promise you will be very surprised at the amount of oil that is being pushed into the plenum area. I drove to Florida and when i got there after six hours of driving the the thing was almost full of oil.

Um..yeah, Nissan/Infiniti put that threshold amount not the Dealers.

Makes sense if your VQ uses more than that amount, it's got major problems in addition to the high vacuum thing during break-in and should be replaced.

If it were per oil change, then I would've gotten a new VQ a long time ago, which now is fine and doesn't hardly use any oil now. Mine also continues to improve.
Replacement really wasn't necessary with mine.

If they determine that my engine is in fact burning oil, you guys think I will get a new engine or used one, considering I have 37k miles on mine?

You should still be under warranty, in which case you'd get a new engine. You need to call an Infiniti dealer, give them your VIN, and ask them when your warranty is up. It will probably be sometime this year, so I would get on it fast while you're still in your period.

That's right, the engine/drivetrain is under a warranty that is longer than the 4 year / 50,000/60,000.
