More burning oil questions...

What's up everyone, I read all the burning oil posts I could find but still have some questions. My ride is a 2004 6MT, only mods are the 1/2" motordyne spacer (3 months old) and z-tube/pop-charger (couple years old).

Like others, my oil pressure light would come on when stopping short or turning hard. I took it to the dealer and I had only 2 quarts left since my last oil change (5k miles). They did the compression test and found no problems and today I had the 1k mile check and I'm currently burning a little more than .5 quart/1000 miles.

Does the way I drive affect how much oil is burning? Would changing from Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w30 to a thicker synthetic or back to regular oil help? I can't see getting a change or adding a quart every few thousand miles.

Some people said they have gotten new engines out of this, my question is what was the damage and how bad was it for them to warranty the new engine?

How do I know the damage hasn't been done already? What are the signs of the damage?

Just got a call from my dealer who was changing my oil. I complained about the 2nd gear grinding when cold, and he said the noise I hear is the engine since I only had about a quart and a half of the oil in the engine. He just told me I can pick up the car and come back in about 1000 miles, and if I'm burning oil they will replace my engine.
Anyone has those other threads handy on this issue?

Wow, I've owned my car for a month now,and that lil yellow "i" light comes on after about an hour of driving the car. Is this the ses light everyone is talking about? And also, when I shut my car down, there is a sound that sounds like something shaking/vibrating. But there is nothing that "vibrates" I just had the oil changed with mobil 1 synthetic at valvoline, hmmm...guys are making wonder now.

That (!) light is the tire pressure sensor.

I think the "i" light you're refering to is actually "!" - and it indicates that your tire pressure is low - an audible beep will happen if you ignore it as well.
Or I could be wrong, but I don't think there is an i symbol that lights up.

That's wild. After reading many of those posts, it seemed to me the oil burning issue rested with the REV-UP motors.

On another note, my '97 Honda Prelude, H22 VTEC burned oil since the day I got it. I probably had to put a quart in every 1000 miles or so, depending on how much I got into the VTEC mode. According to the forums, this was completely normal for the H22 and stayed that way for the 45K miles I owned the car. Hopefully it is the same way with the G and not a deteriorating process.

I guess I'm naive.... I can't believe people actually buy into the idea that burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles is "normal". That would mean by the time you need standard oil changes (every 5000 miles) you would be empty.... or you would never need an oil change because you'd be rotating new oil in for the burned oil as recommended.

I don't agree with the dealership stating that it is ok for a quart to burn every 1000 miles either. When I used the phrase normal, I meant it being normal in the context of the H22 motor from Honda, yet abnormal in the large scheme.

Don't you guys every check your oil level? With our cars, you should be checking it every time you get gas.
