ummm.... there *is* a section for "other cars"
If threads were started in the right section = non-issue
BTW anyone can request a mod to move an OT thread like this.

That UNR 335i looks hot IMO..... man I hope Infiniti's 08 Coupe will be worth it, otherwise 335i here I come as well!
Also, 350RWHP and 374 torque will probably be almost the cap as to what the 335i is capable of without changing out the small turbo's. I want to see real world 1/4mi times instead of Dyno #'s.

MSRP for a G35 6mt coupe is about $39k, rougly $6k for forced induction, then you'd have to upgrade your clutch to handle the additional HP, say $1000 for ACT clutch and flywheel. That's not including labor and tuning. Thats not even upgradeing the cat back. And if you do so, to complement the forced On top of that, thats anywhere between $500-$1200. you've basically kiss your powertrain and drivetrain warranty goodbye...just so you can keep up or surpass the 335i coupe. $$$ saved?
or, you could buy a 335i coupe for $43k, and still have warranty and your scheduled services covered. and to mod it, $1300 for xede, $1200 for for an Agency Power exhaust and, anywhere between $500-$1000 for a tuning session. Simply unplug the xede, unbolt the exhaust system and put back the stock system...and take it in for service.
But hey, anything's possible when you got money.

I think your figures are a bit off. the G maxed out with all options at around 35k not 39. the 335i goes for around 40k. you do the math. you are saying around put around 2k more into the 335i for mods. that is 7k left over total if you bought the G brand new to spend on mods if you are following. For that money you can surely make the G just as fast if not faster than the modded or unmodded 335i (keeping all things in ballance). Let's not forget there are people with built motors (which all things considered aren't that expensive) with turbo setups that are making around 6-800 bhp. Clearly this is just a matter of opinion, not of what is the better buy or better decision. Hands down for the money the G wins. Lastly, if you are worried about BMW covering maintenance and everything, yeah it's a great deal, but on the other hand BMW won't uphold warrantees for modded cars anyways, especially not for cars that are boosting more than stock specs, which wears down the engine dramatically sooner. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to this debate. It's simply a matter of opinion.

yeah thats true and all.. but the 335 is SICK.
sit back, relax, and watch the horsepower war climax. It's been going on for some time now (infiniti, lexus, bmw, in the $30-50K market being a prime example) and it'll probably go on until all the gas is dried up.
Also, just accept the fact that newer cars will almost always have more potential, more power, better features. Be thankful of the fact that there isn't a car in the G35's price range that combines everything it has. Looks, good power, good handling, and a liveable interior quality, and decent set of features, all at a fairly bargain price. Really, no one has managed to put all the most desirable features into one car at a good price like infiniti has. I know I've searched all over, and the closest thing I found was an RX-8 (meh) and the audi TT (tired, and might as well be a 2 seater). Well, that is, without breaking the 40k mark.
The 335i convertible was at the detroit auto show. I'm not a big fan of convertibles, and the one at the show didn't show it with the top up, but it looks fine. Fine as in, ok, and not "foine" like the g35's rear quarter view.
Finally, there is no better way to improve upon a car (or anything else for that matter) than to compare it to others similar to it, or even something that is totally opposite. Sure, there is a different forum for this, but it is so painfully obvious that the 335i is a direct challenge of BMW to infiniti saying something to the effect of, "who's your daddy now... biatch?" So, it's only natural it would get a lot of attention. To be honest, I don't see how infiniti is going to be able to match this without wandering into the GTR's territory, but we'll see. Mr. Ghosn has done harder things before... you know... like, the fact that nissan is still in existence.
Oh, and can't we all just admit that we have a sort of p3n15 envy for the 335i? come on now. you'll feel better if you do. that admission will clear up a lot of the angst in this thread.
