My main concern is what happens if you wreck the tire enough, say from metal in the road (not that could ever happen on the NJ Turnpike or NY State Throughway!) that it is can't be used. If you have no spare you are up the proverbial creek. I don't think they are ready yet, except for cars with absolutely no room and with drivers willing to take that risk. --My unasked for 2 cents.

I'm still concerned about damage that makes the tire unusable. Then youare stuck and at the mercy of tow trucks, etc. The ride will likely be worse also. To me, the downsides are much greater than the plus of a sub.
