i dont know if this is normal, but everytime i shift into 2nd gear, sometimes it grinds, other times is a bitch to get it to 2nd gear, and every now and then, its shifts smoothly to 2nd gear?

car has 2400 miles.

2nd gear will only grind when cold. Thats why now, every morning before going to school, I turn the car on and leave it running for about 2 minutes, so by the time Im ready to go to school, the car is at warm, full operating temperatures.

wow... our temperatures here in toronto are much colder than anything u'll get in florida. i've never had any grinding issues with my car. some cold weather days i will have a lot of problems getting it into 1st and 2nd ... but it has never grinded. i hope u guys are talking about the synchros being difficult to navigate through... otherwise u really need to have that checked with the dealer.

What are you talking about?
You can live on the f*cking equator, the hottest place in the world, and if you start your car on a new morning, guess what? The motor will be "cold", the transmission will be "cold", the oil circulating is "cold", and the idle will start at 2K and come down once the car is "warm". What I mean by cold is, not at optimum operating temperature. There is nothing wrong with my car, I just like to warm it up before I start redlining gears.

honestly people tend to overlook changing over the trans fluid, you should change it at 30k you would be surprised how it feels afterwards

After my dealer kept convincing me that it does not need replacing, I still made them do it anyways, and actually I thought I felt the difference the first week, but I still feel notchiness, and actually grinding when cold, and it never grinded before. I'm glad I did the maintenance part of it, but it really didn't improve anything for me. I still love my car though.

i understand what your saying... but a cold start in the summer is completely different than a cold start in the winter for me. if u don't realize this ... then i'm sorry. ask any G driver in a real cold climate how their vehicle reacts... and they will all tell u the same thing. once again... my gears have never grinded my car on any cold start. u didn't have to be such a douche about it .. and your logic is totally wrong.

also... idling your car for 2 minutes will not bring the transmission to 'ideal' temperatures. it needs to be driven.

Now I'm just starting to notice this after reading about it. Although not a grind, going into 2nd gear is definitely rougher than the other gears. I've been driving a stick for 8 yrs now, so I don't think it's me.

my car did that from day 1 and it still does it on second gear and sometimes 1st.
changed my tranny fluid at the dealer with the same fluid and it felt the same a week after.

i have 39k miles, and now on cold starts where i dont warm up the car, my 1st gear actually grinds.

hope i get a new tranny.
