It was a little after 6am on Saturday and I was going to my office. I got it up to 100-110 and kept it there for a while. Highway was pretty empty, a few cars here and there. Then I noticed a car following me and gaining on me. Lights were not HID so I figured it's not a RACER. I started slowing down and changed a lane, that is when he turned on the Christmas decorations. I do have a V1, but his radar was not on. He caught me just by following me. Cop asked me if I had any reason for going over 100. And I knew that he did not have me on the radar so I said that I was not going that fast. So he started freaking out and told me to step out of my car. Hands on the car and all that crap. And then he asked me if I want to be a jerk and go to jail, or if I want to tell him how fast I was going. So I said that honestly I don't remember and that I was not paying attention. So I got my self a $326 ticket and cop got him self no evidence that I was going that fast. Should be pretty easy to dismiss it.
Wrong. At least in Florida anyway, and most driving laws are created by the states. They don't need to clock you with radars or lasers. If they are following you, they can "pace" you. I got caught doing 70-80 down a backstreet when I was a crazy 16yo w/ a 5.0 Stang w/ my friend chasing me in a Prelude v-tech. He said he "paced" me at 50, but he was losing me around some curves and caught up to me at a light. Originally Posted by JOKER

I took the ticket and said sorry. You go in there w/ that attitude and the judge will eat you up. Saying you weren't paying attention is careless driving on top of the speeding. Good luck with getting it dismissed though, but I doubt it will happen. You will be lucky if the judge even lets you take the class for that one.
What state are you in and how old are you?

I went 94mph right by a cop and off my exit. If the light was green, I would have gotten away and be shopping in Target. But the light was red and he came up to be 20 seconds later and I got a 400 and something dollar ticket.

Two weeks ago I had gone to Mexico and while there, I really started to miss my car, being that I just got it 5 weeks ago. When I got home the first thing I wanted to do was to get in my car, and drive, and that's where the story begins. I got home about midnight (St. Louis Missouri) where my car had been parked at my girlfriends house. Begging for a good night sleep I decided to drive back to my house and sleep in my own bed. The highway between point A and point B is VERY straight and VERY flat. As rounded a bend I looked ahead of me and transformed myself into Mario Andretti barreling down the last apex towards the straight a way. I don't know what came over me but I decided to push the G all the way up to 155mph. I slammed into 3rd, only for a second as I watched it hit redline. Then 4th. Then 5th, I looked down at the speedo and considered for a split second to slow down, nah keep going. 130mph, I give the clutch no mercy as I dump it into 6th. I hit 147 and like a junkie I want more, but I’m coming up on my exit in about a half-mile and need to slow down, and slow down fast. As I down shift and brake at the same time I notice in my review mirror a car coming onto the highway. I continue to concentrate on slowing the car down without over heating the brakes as I come onto the exit ramp. Just as I come to a stop, I look in my mirror and my worst nightmare had just come true. St. Louis County finest had flipped on their lights and I pulled over. At this point I trying not to laugh knowing I'm going to jail. The police officer comes up to the window and says, "Do you want to tell me how fast you were going, or should I tell you"? Since this was not my first ticket, I knew never admit to anything. "You better tell me", I said. 134! step out of the car. To wrap this up I did go to jail, and on my way the officer was telling me he had been an officer for 10 years and has never actually caught someone going that fast. I couldn't help it, I busted out laughing. I have already contacted my lawyer and am waiting on my court date. I’ll keep you guys up to date on the outcome. Any suggestion, anyone?
ROFL YOUR MY HERO!!
bursting out laughing while going to jail. I like you

HAHA...i thought i was stupid when i was driving my vette down a flat back road at 110 when i saw a cop and slammed the brakes, he got me for 90 in a 30, kept me there for an hour. Turned out he was friends with my uncle, and didnt want to cut me a break. Judge saw me in court and asked what rocket i was driving, i told him, he said as he covered the mic, "nice car, i got one myself", and said, if i had to pay a huge fine with 10 points to the license. Last words to me were, "If i ever see you in here again, im taking your license for good!" Needless to say, i dont speed much anymore, too scared to lose it! Originally Posted by filanj
