Re: how would the coupe hold up to a Z4 3.0?

These #'s are from the Nov 2002 Automobile magazine where they did an article comparing the 2 cars:

G35C:
HP 280
TQ 270
W 3460
0-60: 6.0s
0-100: 15.1s
1/4mi: 14.6s @ 98mph

330Ci:
HP 225
TQ 214
W 3360
0-60: 5.9s
0-100: 15.4s
1/4mi: 14.6s @ 98mph

The bmw looks like it's faster off the line but we'd win if the race was long enough. Bottom line is I think it'd come down to the driver, not the car.

As far as looks go, no comparison.

Thank you pimpcoupe, i was looking for my Automobile mag and couldnt find it hahaha
So my first post was right, the Z4 3.0 will very close to the G in terms of performance, like i said earlier...
The Z4 is 300 pounds lighter than the 330 and a wider wheel base, so in theory it would outperform the G, not by much though
enuf said, lets leave it at that ok?
the g is no ferrari...so stop treating it like its some italian or german supercar

The 6 M/T is very comparable to the Z4 3.0. Car and Driver just reported a 5.6 0-60 and that is slightly faster than any reported times I have seen for the Z4. The coupe will also out hustle the Z4 to 100. Pretty close though with the reduced weight of the Z4 being the equalizer.

well they redesigned the whole body, made it wider and longer
i think it has as much pazaz as the G does interms of looks, some people hate how it looks, just like the G, some hate it but most love it, it sure does turn some heads
cant wait for a 350Z/G35 convertible

there's a z4 in my apt. complex.. it definitely catches your eye since after you look at it for a sec or two, you realize it's not the z3. but looking at it from up close, you guys see how close the driver's seat is to the "trunk"? it's a nice cruising vehicle.. but has no utility... i but i guess if you're gonna drop nearly 40 g's.. you don't care about utility.

don't get me wrong, I do like the Z4. I can still see the z3 in it though. It's like a z3 with cleaner lines and pumped up.

someone doesn't like the G35coupe? LOL jk, I know everyone has their own taste. I haven't met a person that didn't like the g35c yet.

heh i love the g dude, dont get me wrong, i love it alot more than the Z4
...only bad thing is that a friend of mine doesnt like the G at all
and i cant convince him otherwise!!! And to top it off, his favorite car for the past 3 years has been a Skyline GTR...he just doesnt like the radical 180 degree change that they made i guess, oh well

go here:

Read the post by 'Bnut' and watch the vid. The 330 can't hang with the Z, so I'm guessing the G would be similar.

The Z4 3.0 with the 6spd manual will walk on a G35 easy. Pick up the latest issue of Car and Driver, the Z4 did the 0-60 in 5.4 sec and the 1/4 mile in 14.2 at 107mph. Best time I have seen for the G35 coupe is 6.0 to the 60 and around 14.5 for the 1/4 mile

Re: how would the coupe hold up to a Z4 3.0?

The winner of this race is going to be the person who has better driving experience. The cars are quite evenly matched due to their power to weight ratio but what also needs to be taken into consideration is the longer gears of the Bimmer.

ps: This is not ReDRoK8, its his friend Andrew A4 (2001 Audi A4 1.8t with a bunch of mods). Once he breaks in his engine, i'm going to give him a little run. I can pull mid 14's currently and can hold my own with a 330ci. Havent had the chance of running a Z4 though.

Re: how would the coupe hold up to a Z4 3.0?

Personally, I don't much care for the Z4. I don't think the buying public does much either given how many are piling up on BMW lots these days and the discounting that dealers are offering off of MSRP. The interiors are hideous, much less user friendly and much less attractive than the MZ3 interiors. Exterior is a mixed bag, front looks good, Z8-like, the rear looks like a Honda S2000 and the sides, well not sure what to make of the sides, yes an eye-catcher but maybe not in a good way. Supposedly improved in performance all-around including a newly designed suspension, but I'll have to see one on the track to see how they do before giving it thumbs up or down on performance. They also need an "M" version. I still like the previous M Roadster (Z3) better.

Re: how would the coupe hold up to a Z4 3.0?

that's what i was trying to figure out.. i saw the z4 and didn't really recognize it from the back so had to take a closer look.. i knew the back reminding me of some other car but couldn't put my foot on it.. yeah, it's very s2000-like, now that you mention it.
