now that my crack is growing, I guess I will have to replace it. does anyone know if its a safety issue if i keep driving with the windshield with a long crack in it? anyone have any good references to window shops in sacramento?

 

If you get it repaired, don't get a mobile guy come out and do it. I was talking to a bunch of people, and got a glass shop that was recommended by the Infiniti, Acura, and BMW dealer. (They happened to use the same shop, so he must be good).

Anyways, the glass shop recommended bringing your car in, becuase he said whenever mobile guys go out, you chance them not bringing the right tools for the specific application, and said they'll usually cut corners, like re-using or breaking some of the seals/moldings/etc.

He was telling me that 99.9% of the time, there isn't a difference between OEM and aftermarket glass, because only a small handful of shops around the world actually make the glass. He said the most important part of a windshield replacement, is the installation, not the glass.

I'd take it with a grain of salt, but it made sense to me.
