Hey guys, I may have finally found a buyer for my car today. But heres the problem:
He is getting a loan from a bank in order to pay for the car. The pink slip for the car is in my parents name and they have signed the pink slip so I can sell the car on my own. I have done this before with my older integras but now that the guy is getting a loan from the bank, I was told that the registered owner usually if not always has to go into the bank and give the bank the pink slip. Is there any way I can go in and turn the pink slip over myself?
Also, is there a way this guy can just get a check from the bank for the loan and cash it in and give me the cash? I am at school right now so my parents would not be able to come and meet this guy at a bank.
Thank in advance!

Yep. Just bring a notarized note from your parents authorizing you to sell the vehicle and you will be all set.
Hey Hi-Tech thanks for the quick response.
So I can pretty much bring in a typed letter with my parents signature to verify? Or does a notarized note consist of more than just that?

notarized consists more.....you parents have to go to notary public ...usually accountants n lawyers....and sign in front of them...they will then stamp it with a state seal.
Ok yeah I expected it to be more than just a letter with a signature. Any ideas on where I can get it done today? I honestly have no clue where I would be able to get a notary? Would I have to make an appointment? Thanks again guys!

Last time i need something signed like that i went to a currency exchange and thats where i got it notarized
If i went to the post office say UPS store, just a simple letter with a seal would do? Wouldn't I need "a lawyer" or someone like that to sign the letter also?

as long as you get pay legitlly then why are you care. Well i am trying to say, the guy is borrowing moeny from the bank to pay you and if he give you the money then why are you worry about who gets the pink slip.
The reason is that I personally may not be able to hand in the pink slip since it is under my parents name. My parents won't be able to meet me and the buyer if the bank requires the registered owner to be present. Of course this transaction would be easier if he can just get cash but I don't know if he can.

Have your parents write you a letter and go to get it notarized at a post office and send you the letter. Once you have that letter signed and notarized by your parents you are pretty much all set. As far as you getting cash in your hand you may want to have the buyer get you a bank certified check made out to you. If he puts both you and your parents name on the check they will need both of you present when cashing. I only know this becasue I used to work at a financial institution.

It's not rocket science. Banks, UPS store, post office, Kinkos, etc. will usually have a notary available. Just call ahead to check. Being a notary just means they are certified by the court to gurantee the signature. It's very simple. Your parents sign the letter, the notary signs and stamps it, your parents sign in the notary's log and may have to leave a thumb print, pay the notary (about $20), done.
