Alright.
Basically I love my G, but as you can probably tell it doesn't really make me happy. I wanted a Z badly, but I am always going out on weekends and everyone wants to take my car. (haha, one time we had 5 people and my cousins girlfriend and friends elected to drive with me and make him drive alone "zacs cars so comfortable" I also had a girl tell me "this cars so fast its gonna snap my neck!") Good times.
This last weekend I hit a fatass rock and destroyed my front bumper. In addition to that, I ruined my gauges with a failed DIY project and bought replacement gauges from ebay but now have the VDC off light constantly on. I cracked the orange lens that protects the center dash display, and thats about it.
THE POINT
heres my issue.
I feel scared to touch my car. I want something I can work on and drive at the same time. But I keep realizing that I'm going to be paying $500 a month for the next 4 years and then end up with a car that I've hacked to bits.
As for the G I owe 28,000 and its worth 28,000 private party.
So my scenarios are as follows.
A) Keep the G, get it back to clean running order first. Then buy a s13 240sx and make it into a fully gutted drift mobile.
B) Sell the G, Buy and s14(kouki) as my DD and a s13 as my drift mobile. Saving upwards of 300 a month and pouring it into my full drifted car.
C) Keep the G, buy an old civic or likewise DD. TT build my G, Gut it, Racing seats probably the most expensive alternative.
I'm posting this just to get my bearings and hoping that someone will say something magical to help me decide on something.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Well, I love hacking into cars, new or old! Look, it's a car. This thing won't appreciate in value, unlike a house. Have fun with it and if you are planning to keep it for the full 4 years more, it will matter little if you hacked into and left some battle scars. Most cars after 5 years are not going to be prestine condition. However, buying another car for other reasons, well, I can't help you there. Our cars are nice but not "drift" worthy unless you have lots of moola.

Hmmm... Personally, I would fix the G up and then sell it, buy an old civic which will get you like 30+MPG and then save my money until the 335i convertible comes out. Those things look amazing!

I kind of confused.., you say you destroyed your front bumper, ruined your gauges, etc. and your G is worth $28K private party?!?!
Anyway, I understand your question. I would restore your G to good condition before you try to sell it (if that's what you decide to do).
IMHO I think its a good idea to have a reliable, practical daily driver if you like to do a lot of modding and/or want to keep your G in the best possible condition. I have an '02 PT Cruiser that's my daily driver. My G stays safe at home in bad weather and avoids supermarket, mall and other parking lots (as well as other sources of potential damage) as much as possible.

Keep it, you're going to lose money if you sell it. Probably won't get near 28k private party.

If you can't handle a diy guage project, what makes you think you can handle making a 240sx a full drift machine? Just throwing out a honest question.

I doubt you could get $28k. Probably around $25k (at most) so the best case is that you'd still owe $3k if you sell. Negative equity is b!tch. Its probably smarter to keep it at this point...

Don't get too discouraged about the bumper and dash stuff. Sh*#t happens and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it sometimes. I was driving yesterday and some retard coming the other way runs over a rock the size of Iowa and it shoots up and WHAM right into my car door. Dent and paint scratch. Now I'm pissed don't get me wrong but stuff sometimes just happens and you can't sweat it.
As far as the dash I know what you mean. My last car became the first that I really started to mod and do stuff to and I broke all kind of sh#&t. I think I broke about 4 temp gauges trying to put in a new ricey indiglo thing. I got frustrated but after a while you know where to pull, what not to pull, etc. Don't let it get you down. Consider each event a learning experience.

Well the gauge mess up was an attempt at making them glow blue. It got screwed up once I misunderstood the post from another member on how to adjust the gauges to read accurately. The blue was badass I must say, its just that the tach broke and would start at 8k no matter how I inserted the needle.
I would be able to make a drift car. I can install suspension, brakes, and do most motor work no problem, thats where I'm at home. Not to mention I have motivation, I love cars.
I think you would agree that the 240 is a much simpler car with an extremely large and experienced support base.

Keep the G!! So you had a couple of misfortunate events... **** happens! Just gotta fix her up and she'll be good as new!
I agree with the pricing as well. I believe that I will just keep my g35 and save around 10k for a 89-90 240. My pipe dream would be to get a VQ30 or VQ35 into an S chassis. It has been done before. I know theres a Kouki running around with a VQ35 and and a s13 coupe running with a VQ30.

This is what I did... needed something else to mod, the G was getting too expensive. I can beat the hell outta the s13, drift/track it all day, and if something breaks no big deal. Plus they're real easy to fix and mod with all the cheap parts available. Don't get rid of the G, you probably won't be able to get what it's worth.
