youve got a few options...
1) nice exhaust - hks, fast intentions, stillen...etc
2) intake, plenum spacer, high flow cats/test pipes (i'd add headers to the list but the labor for those is a b!tch)
3) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20HP-...spagenameZWDVW
4) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20HP-...spagenameZWDVW
5) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INFIN...spagenameZWDVW

Whats up with parents giving G35 to their kids...
PS. Dont worry about modding the G right now... you've gotta get to know your car before you mod it.... Save up your cash for now.

hahaah gotta love the links to ebay.. i was thinking of adding some NOS stickers for a couple more hps.. and about saving.. that does sound best.. but come on.. i cant have a stock G for to long before i get the bug to start throwing parts on it.. so I kinda want to have an idea of what to look for..
hahaha im getting heat for the parents giving me the car lol should of never mentioned that i dont know why i did..none the less they did.. but when im done with it.. wont be my parents G they gave me.. believe that well anymore advice would help... or any good shop in the so cal area would be awesome also..
i would go with the intake, plenum spacer, headers, high flow cats, and catback exhaust but you wont be able to get all that for 1500. I would do some searching around the forum and find your preference in each one and then go price them out. You can go get some used parts in the marketplace section and save you a good amount of money.

if you have a job and are making decent money, save up for f/i applications
otherwise, exhaust, hfcs, headers, plenum spacer, intake, tune...
but dont forget the suspension mods
imo, wheels and a drop first...

This car will not necessarily become an asphalt eating monster on just typical N/A mods alone unless you are going hardcore with porting/polishing/stroking etc... But your budget is very limited apparently so its a moot point anyways. That being said... My choices for N/A mods would be these.
For performance I would do: Motordyne 5/16th spacer, Mrev lower plenum, z-tube w/drop in k&n filter, Crawford headers and highflow cats or Fast intentions cats, Fast Intentions exhaust.
After saving up some more I would get a flux capacitor and and then drive 88 miles an hour...

hey, you got lucky. You got a G for free. Thats just a deal you cant beat. I personally would go for wheels. Get the feel of the car first. then you can see and feel any increase you may get from future mods.
the route im going, clear corner lights, tinted windows, next im going for the splash gaurds and then wheels in the spring.
enjoy your new G. I wouldnt trade mine for anything...

I'd save up some more money first, if your priority is to do performance upgrades first versus styling upgrades.
If you do powertrain upgrades (such as a cold air intake, plenum spacer and/or MREV2 lower collector, headers, high flow cats, exhaust, etc.), you will not get the most out of those mods without ECU tuning (Technosquare, UTEC, etc.). The factory ECU has this annoying feedback function that hinders gains from the mods I just listed.
If you absolutely need/want to do something now
, I'd recommend getting a set of aftermarket sway bars (I have Cusco). It's a relatively cheap mod, and you would be amazed at the difference they make in cornering with an otherwise stock suspension/wheel/tire setup.
Here's another consideration/option. I was wondering... do you (or your folks) know if your '04 G has the sport package? The reason I ask is because if it does not, then you don't have a limited slip differential. If you don't have the factory VLSD, I would take the opportunity to put a good aftermarket LSD in the car (personally I want to get a Quaife, but there is also Nismo, Cusco, Kaaz, and others) or at least get an OEM VLSD before putting a bunch of power mods on the car. I know some guys may not agree with this line of thinking, but that's just my personal opinion.
Anyway, welcome to the G family So.Cal.G & happy modding!
