I think the 04 is a pretty good year. yea, the interior isn't as spiffy, but some metal door handles and brushed aluminum grab handle snap-ins fixes that. It was the last year of the Brembo brakes, has a DE which is less oil consuming than the rev-ups according to this forum, it's more affordable than an 06, has the big spoiler, rather than the tiny one that only covers the trunk lid. The only thing I wish mine had was the smart key so I could do a push-to start conversion without buying a separate unit and the auto-unlock door handles would be nice.
Some nice things about the 05/06 is they get better headlights, slightly better tail lights, cool front bumper on sport models, smart key with twist-to-start, some have aux/rca jacks in the center console, no ugly cassette deck (although that's saving my butt right now since the cd player cant even read brand new cd's without skipping), and its 100X easier to find wheels that fit since you dont have big *** brake calipers in the way. I dont think you can even have deep lip on the front wheels without some serious fender rolling.
If I wanted to spend $15K on a G I would buy a sub 100k 06. but I only wanted to spend 10 so I got my 04 that's barely over 100k. And here in my area, $10k is pretty cheap.

If you've got the money, try to grab an 06. the smartkey and projector lights are worth the upgrade.

Yeah i'm seeing that the 05 and 06 potentially have oil consumption issues, while the 03 and 04 seem to have shorter brake life. it's just that on truedelta, 05 has alot more repair trips. so i'm just confused as to how a newer and upgraded 05 model can have more issues than the 04.

and there's only one 06 model in my area, and the seller seems to be kind of sketchy. so an 06 might be out of the question.

We've updated our reliability stats for the G to include owner experiences through September 30, 2015. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2006 G: 48, low
2005 G: 77, moderate
2004 G: 57, low
2003 G: 72, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2006 G: 59, 2
2004 G: 52, < 1
2003 G: 62, 7

We'll have further updates in February and in May. The more owners participate, the more precise these will be.

We've updated our reliability stats for the G to include owner experiences through the end of 2015, about eight months ahead of other sources. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year--lower is better:

2006 G: 56, low
2005 G: 81, moderate
2004 G: 67, low
2003 G: 66, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2006 G: 68, 4
2004 G: 51, 3
2003 G: 51, 6

We'll have further updates in May and in August. The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise these will be.

We've updated our reliability stats for the G to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):

2006 G: 59, moderate
2005 G: 82, moderate
2004 G: 82, moderate
2003 G: 51, low

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2006 G: 57, 3
2004 G: 39, < 1
2003 G: 58, < 1

For the 2007 we're often just a response or two short, so additional participants for it would be especially helpful.
