Keyfob Problem???

My cousin and aunt use the same keyfob as us... (nissan altima and maxima) but i have only a 15-20 foot range on mine, while they both get above 70+ feet easily!
I changed out the battery, and it made no difference!

What is the problem if any, are the recievers in our cars just crappier...

Peace
-Eric

Re: Keyfob Problem???

i heard the anteanne for it is in the BCM, which is by the driver side fuse box. I guess this location reduces the range. There was a post on FA talking about moving or extending it, but i don't think it ever panned out.

Re: Keyfob Problem???

Seems to be the nature of the 'beast'. As redwillow says, the antenna probably isn't in the best location.
Try pointing the keyfob up to your chin so that it uses you head to transmit (this is no joke). You'll see that it greatly extends the keyfob range.
Strange but true......
LOL everyone else will think you're nuts, but it will open the doors...............

Re: Keyfob Problem???

in the car's manual, the keyfob shows theres a circular opening in the back of keyfob for battery replacement, but my keyfobs dont have that. can anyone tell hows yours look like in the back? how do you get the battery out? thanks.

hahaha...thats hilaroius. Actually, whales have this fatty tissue on their forehead that does the same thing...when they "sing", it amplifies the sound so it goes a long distance....

Re: Keyfob Problem???

Yeah i didn't have that little circle thing either...

Just remove the key ring from it,
and pry it open with a flat head screw driver or chisel or something...
then replace the battery, and snap back together!

Peace

Re: Keyfob Problem???

30 to 40 feet is what my range is, it does not change with either keyfob, it stays the same, but i did notice the alarm button responds to a little more range, more like 50 feet.

Re: Keyfob Problem???

At the keyring end, you have to carefully pry open the 2 halves of the keyfob (with a thin blade screwdriver) to expose the battery. GSM
