Stupid carwash. I guess I'm the idiot though.

I went to a touch free car wash thing and didn't think my car would clear the little bracket you have to put your left front tire into, so the guy that worked there came out and had me pull up to it and see if it would clear... He said it had plenty of room and I'd be fine, so I trusted him, heh. He also said, "You're one of the smart ones, most people just come right in and rip their body kits right off".

Anyways, I pull into the bracket just fine, go through the carwash, and when I go to pull out of the bracket, it bottoms out right on my front left splash guard behind the tire and breaks a big chunk out of it and cracks it up to the top...

I hate it for life. I should have just washed it myself I guess, it's too freaking cold though!

At least it was just the splash guard and I can get another one easily I would think, heh.

yeah i'm going to have to say you're the idiot on that one....sorry.

dont go through them!!!!!
they may "clean" your car but they leave scratches that will last a lifetime.

i hear you with the cold though...yesterday it was 30 degrees here and i just rinsed her off well to get the salt off at one of those coin drop places.
the best you can really do when its that cold...

buddy you should know better!! if you have performance tires, or body kits installed on your car, you should NEVER EVER go thru an automated car wash!!! you will end up curbing your rims, and/or damaging your beautiful body kit!!!

ALWAYS have them do an offline car wash, where they will handwash it!!!

Here is what you can do...get a windex bottle and empty it fill it with a some soap and some water and just mist it on the car let it sit for a few seconds then just put the hose on high pressure and rinse it off....it does a pretty good job...

Oh yeah, I know not to go through the ones with the fabric crap that actually hits your car, it just has a machine that runs back and forth while I sit there and it sprays my car with high pressure water... I'm not THAT stupid, haha... Basically, it's the same as doing the coin thing myself, it doesn't touch my car at all, just the little stopper thing was retardedly too high. They need to make this world for my car, sheesh.

Its definitely too cold out, but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the car looking good. You should look at for a flagship car wash near your area. I live in Montgomery County in Maryland where there are a couple of them around here. I usually wash it myself, but not when its below freezing.

The BEST way to keep your G clean in the winter months is to use a rinseless car wash like QEW or ONR. I've been using QEW and it works awesome. All you need is two buckets of warm water.

Actually, I have only used QEW. From my understanding though, ONR is a very similiar product. For wintertime cleaning, I can't recommend this stuff enough. I for one, will not take my G to any automatic car washes, whether they are touchless or not.

Oh ok. I am definitely taking your advice on that stuff. After seeing this thread and how sexy and clean your G looks in the middle of all the snow, I have to trust you haha.

Although I don't drive my G during winter, its still a little dirty in the garage and I feel bad. So I will wash it, that way when snow is gone its clean and ready! Also, I want to use it on my other car.

Got any tips on using this stuff? I will order some for sure.
