Question Is this correct from the Dealer about XM?

Hello all, as you can see from the low post count, I am new here. I'm down to three dealers for buying a 07 G35 6MT. I'm after Aero/Prem/Nav and XM. I have read these boards for days, I understand it not easy for a dealer to put Sirius on a 07 with Nav because Nav uses XM.

The best price I have from one dealer, but he wants to charge $637.50 to install XM, but the car already has NAV. I honest think he's trying to stick me with that extra price to make up for the good price he quoted me. Doesn't NAV already have XM? What's missing?

Does anyone have Nav and not have XM on a 07? If there isn't XM, how much work is it to install after the fact? Might as well install Sirius then, which I really want, but that darn Navigation?

Thank you in advance, Allen

i don't know if there is any change from 06 to 07, but i have an 06/aero/prem/nav, and i did not want to pay ~$700.00 for dealer installed sirius.
i purchased the sirius factory unit for $200.00 and installed it myself (and put the antenna on the interior rear speaker deck (not on the roof or trunk).

i don't understand why the nav would interfere with sat rad.?

Speedracerg35, that is the complete direction I want to go, but I have read 3 different posts that say you can not get Sirius on a 2007 with Navigation. If you do, you will have two antenna's. I'd much rather have Sirius! But that makes me believe that XM is already installed when you get Navigation. "Da Mayor" just put a post on this two days ago. The Nav uses the XM for real-time-traffic on the screen. That is just what I have read, but I need to know soon. I don't want to pay 3 times the price on the unit to get XM, and I'd much rather have Sirius.

Does anyone know if 2007 G35c's that have Navigation have XM built in?

Question

I've read and read again tonight. Are the Nav's in the Sedans and Coupes different? I might be confusing myself. I did have one dealer tell me that I could not get Sirius with Navigation? What gives?

My only guess for the Dealer saying that is, I heard awhile ago that Infiniti was stopping their relationship with Sirius and going with XM starting with their 07 models.
I have an 06 and when I bought mine it came from the factory with Sirius and NAV, though my Sirius doesn't display anything on my NAV.
All I can think is maybe on 07 models, XM is intregrated with NAV and can display XM functions on the NAV screen.

I had the option on my 07 for either XM or Sirius, both listing for $350 and I have not noticed a link between the XM and my navi. All my XM data is displayed on the Bose display.

I have an '05 coupe, without nav, and was recently quoted a price of $550 from the dealer to install to install satellite radio. Whether you get XM or Sirius, the cost should be the same.

XM uses Nav-Traffic, which is up to the minute traffic information. Sirius doesnt have this. Now if your vehicle is not XM-equipped, i think all you need to buy is the trunk mount reciever/tuner. The vehicle is gonna be pre-wired for XM. I doubt that the tuner costs > $600. I would try to buy the part directly from the dealer parts people, it should be under $400. If you have navi, i think the antenna might already be run. Also, the display will be better with XM and Nav, it will display on the Nav screen, for easier scrolling and all. Sirius module isnt tied to the navi like that.

For parts alone for the kit to purchase from us is $237.50 plus shipping...

Install at a Dealer would be more then taking it to say a stereo install shop where they deal with installs like this more...

Everyone, thank you very much for all the replies. I confused myself, I read a post about the Sedans and assumed it would be the same on the Coupes. I have since gone to the Infiniti website and built a Sedan. As soon as I clicked Navigation, it took away the option to get Sirius or XM, because of the XM-Traffic. That leads me to believe that Couple does not have the real time traffic option.

I will now tell the dealers that I'm not interested in the XM if not installed, especially since I really want Sirius. Even if it does have XM, I believe I can just swap Receivers in the trunk and sell the XM receiver. I already have a XM-Sirius Antenna converter.

I do not enjoy buying cars. The standard thing I have heard is that I am looking for a unicorn, but I can see on 5 dealer's website they have the car I want. Wish me luck. I'm at 1% over invoice at one dealer (but this dealer's invoice has a $750 charge for dealer prep. Didn't realize taking off plastic, adding some filters and fluids cost so much.)
