Second Maintenance and a few questions
Hi,
My car has about 7K miles now and I'm about to take it in for the second maintenance. Before I go in I had a few questions was hoping some of the veterans on this site might be able to answer:
1). My wheel alignment is off, does the Infiniti Warranty cover wheel alignment?
2). I have two scratches and a ding on the passenger side from damn people in the parking lot who kept hitting my door.. any advice on how to fix these, take it to a body shop? dealership?
3). I'm interested in getting satellite radio, I"ve heard before that some of the G35 coupes are prewired for XM Satellite while others are not. Mine is a DG Graphite, 6 speed, premium, and I bought it in April. How do I tell if it is already prewired and if it is not can I get the dealer to hook this up at the time of service?
4). WHat exactly does INfiniti do for the second service, is it just another oil change?
ANy help with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
SS.

Re: Second Maintenance and a few questions
1. I highly doubt they will re-align your car. They're usually pretty tight with warranty issues and bad alignment is usually caused by the driver unless you received your car in that condition. With 7k I'm guessing it didn't come like that or you would've fixed it already.
2. If the scratches aren't real bad just use some touch up paint and touch up clear coat. The dings can be taken out from a dentless repair company for 50-60 per ding and they will come to you.
3. The following V.I.N. ranges for PRE-WIRED vehicles are:
MY03 G35 COUPE - Serial Number -210827 and later
MY03 G35 SEDAN - Serial Number -321894 and later
MY03 I35 - Serial Number -112061 and later
MY03 M45 - Serial Number -005899 and later
MY03 Q45 - Serial Number -102148 and later
(NOTE: ALL FX35's and FX45's are PRE-WIRED and will not necessarily have the pre-wiring sticker affixed to the doorjam.
I took that from an earlier post, here's the link:

4. The 7500 is an oil change and tire rotation. Since there's no rotation on coupes is basically an oil change.

Re: Second Maintenance and a few questions
Actually 12 months 12k miles rule, they will fix any problem no matter what...prewired sat is so easy, just buy it and do it yourself, the 2nd service is just oil change and tire balance, which on the g coupe is pointless since discount tire will do it for free just ask nicely...take your own oil and get a pure one filter #14610 and get a synthetic oil change done...cost u no more than 20 bucks....

Re: Second Maintenance and a few questions
I took my car in for the 7500 mi service listed in the service manual. The changed the oil and greased all the hinges. the also balanced and realigned the car, checked the brakes, and checked over everything else. The service cost me $150.
***** One thing to watch out for and mention to the dealer if you are going to have it done is the balance and alignment. IF you have the 18" wheels there is an adapter that fits on the center hub of the wheel that acts as a buffer between the balancing tool and the rim. If they crank the wheel tight into place without the adapter it will leave scratches in a ring around your rims!!! Make sur eyou mention this! They shoudl know to do it but when i had it done they "forgot" to use the adapter and my front two rims got scratched up. The dealer is goign to have my rims refinished, but still what a pain to deal with. I posted pics of my rims under the wheel section if you want to see what I am talking about.
anyway, do what you want to do and good luck with it!

Re: Second Maintenance and a few questions
If your wheels are not out of balance, then don't let them take them off to check the balance. My dealer did this because they said it was a part of the 7500 mile check. If I had known, then I wouldn't have allowed it. As a result, both of my 18" rear wheels had to be replaced at the dealers cost. I doubt that they will re-align your car, and if it were me, I would take it to another "high end" shop that specializes in wheel alignment. Anyway, that's my free advice.
