Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

I just took a peak in the Sedan forum, since I had nothing better to do, and run into this thread:

<a href="https://g35driver.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=1&Number=144434&page=0&vie w=collapsed&sb=5&part="> Happy Sedan owners </a>

There are some valid reasons for getting the sedan, which I agree with, but some are obsurd. For example, sedan looking better than the coupe??? I know it's a subjective opinion, but common...
Is it just me, or does it sound like some sedan owners are being ignorant?

Re: Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

As a sedan owner, I have to say that the coupe is a GREAT looking car! But that said, the sedan is really good looking as well. Definitely one of the best looking sedans out there. Many similarities, but the coupe is sleeker. I personally love both.

Some of the comments are way less arrogant than one of the forum members once saying the coupe is The true sports car, and the sedan is nothing more than a dressed up Altima. Now THAT comment I found ignorant! Also the comment by some that true enthusiasts ONLY drive MTs, not ATs!

Come on guys, let's just accept differing opinions and choices, rather than ragging on each other's rides.

The coupe kills the sedan in looks. But thats just my opinion.

I just felt like the sedan made me 10 years older by just sitting in it, the coupe just brought me to life. But both cars are a great buy.

Re: Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

Well, in my humble opinion, saying that the sedan looks better than the coupe borders on insanity. I realize some people truly like the looks of the sedan better, but if I was only considering a 4 door, I would put the new TL way ahead of the G35 in terms of looks. The coupe is so good looking it's hard to imagine how ANY 4 door could look better. But that's just my biased opinion, I guess.

Re: Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

I think the stupidity of the argument can be blamed on the sedan owners' attempt at justifying their purchase. In a dominantly relative-viewed world [one subject to opinion], we can only judge looks by majority. If this is the case, then the Gcoupe is obvious the winner here. Combined with its supercar-like looks, 2 doors, and humming exhaust, it simply blows the Gsedan out the window. The sedan has neither the sleek look of the coupe, nor the luxurious look of a sedan. It tries vainly to imitate both worlds, leaving a boring looking car which succeeds in neither.
The recent trend of sport sedans leaves the G35 sedan in the dust. It's boring body shape, cheap interior do not match those of the C32, the Audi S4, the 3-series or 5-series, the new TL, or IS300. It may take victory in terms of power, but lacks in many of the other categories.
The argument can be made it is the best bang for the buck. Which may be true, if one really wanted the Gcoupe but could not purchase it for life style reasons. If one really needed 4 doors, then there are plenty of options elsewhere.
The Gcoupe is a basically a premium 350z, provided it was tuned down and fattened up to provide some luxury to the driver. The Gsedan is basically an nicer Altima. This is a fair opinion, compare the similar body structures on both cars, the same basic set ups. It is much like the G20 before it. Don't fool yourself into thinking that your Gsedan is unique to itself.

I expected this reply from you. The sedans are very nice. Go look at some pics of modded ones, you will be surprised. Gsedan is not basically an nicer Altima. If so then you are driving a nicer Altima with 2 doors, and that is not true. Your posts truelly show your age kid. And also dont get surprised if you ever get smoked by one or two or three.

Re: Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

this is dumb i dont know why people must debate this. The coupe is fast and fun the sedan is fast and practical. We should be think less about our defferences and more about our simularitys at the end of the day we both drive G35s. It doesnt make a difference weather its a sedan or a coupe or weather it me Manual or Auto. We should unite and instead of arguing about differences bewteen the styles we schould be bashing some 330s or somthing.

I agree with Carlos. Why make a big *** deal about it? Why you gonna argue over the looks? I mean they aren't even in the same category...Sports Coupe and Sedan. Both cars are hot for the purpose or categories that they are in thats it. If you would want a sportier ride go for the coupe and if you want something a little more calm and roomy then go for the sedan. Simple as that

I agree. Stop the bickering. Sometimes you'd think we were mortal enemies instead of brother G's.
This must make other club members snicker when they look in and see us arguing.
Other brand owners treat us all as equals, why can't we?

Re: Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

Does the Altima look anything like the 350z or Gcoupe for that matter?
It is obvious that the Gcoupe is a nicer 350z and the Gsedan is a nicer Altima. You can compare body structures between the two cars; match up the elements. To deny this would be pointless. It is interesting that age and speed are the first two factors attacked.
First of all, I didn't say the sedan was slow. If we're not all mistaken it can get pretty close times to a Gcoupe in real life. I would have no problem with a Gsedan beating me in a race. I don't know about any of you, but I didn't buy this car solely for speed, I would have chose the M3 instead. No, I bought this car for many other factors combined.
As for the age comment. I'm really at a loss to say. I have tried to present my arguments in a poignant manner, not to bash the Gsedan but rather to present points to defend my thesis. Obviously this effort was in vain. The only question is, would you have made that argument if I had lied to the forum and said I was 40 years old all along? I hope you reconsider your brash comments, along with my argument. I concur that my prose was thoroughly biased because I am a coupe owner, and it may sound offending at first, but do not be so quick to disregard it.

As for why debate? What's life without a good fight?

Talk about a pointless argument....

There is a reason that a sedan is made... different things for different people... It seems like from all these arguments presented, the only objective one that holds any water what's so ever, is that the coupe is 0.1 seconds faster than the sedan (comaring mt's to mt's and at's to at's). For a modder, this difference is nonexistent, as it can be easily lost on anyone that is less than a great driver of the MT's. I know that the word "practicality" is not a sexy one when it comes to sports cars. But there are other considerations that have exhasutively discussed in many threads.... objective ones... where the sedan wins out big time.... Just run a search... Lower turning radius... lighter car (with much more weight loss potential), etc... Of course the coupe has many advantages too... And those have been given due credit...

The point to keep in mind is that the difference is very largely (and some would say almost exclusively) subjective. I personally like the increased space, the ability to share the car experience with more people, and longer body to be a subjetive advantage... But I also love the coupe.... Who knows what I would get if I were shopping now....

Making objective arguments for one or the other has been done, and overdone!!! It only depends on which is more important to you...

Re: Interesting thread from the Sedan forum

Sorry guys. The intention of my post was not to stir up the pot. I didn't want people to start arguing about which car is better, and why you would choose the coupe over the sedan. I was simply shocked that some people in the sedan forum said the sedan blows the coupe out of the water, in terms of looks. They are both great cars and very similar, so let's try not to put the other cars down. All I was trying to say is, to each his own, but I was shocked to hear some people trying to justify why they bought the sedan, for the wrong reasons. Saying it's more practical is one thing, but to say that it looks a lot nice than the coupe is another. Peace to all, and sorry for starting this thread.

A proud G owner.
