does this actually work?
They may work, but if this is truely a problem, wouldn't the manufacture put one on the car as a standard item? Take care of your car as the manufacture recommends and you won't need these type of items.

i usually only see it on turbo cars where the suction from the turbine sucks oil in from the crankcase ventilation tube, thats when it works well

Been there, done that, and your're right.
I'm just waiting for some warmer weather before I install my oil catch can.

Here's a thread on making one instead of spending $100+ for an aftermarket.

lol...love some of the comments here about the known high vacuum VQ not needing one
For those ppl, take your plenum off and report back here as to what you see in there. The catch can will prevent a lot of that from getting in there.
It's not a gimmick.

great find 06CPV35..so my next question is..once its installed it will start catching right away..should i routinely empty it..or is this a once every 3 months thing..or should i check it after a long drive or so?can this hard the engine in anyway?
When I installed my spacer, I noticed a little bit of dried oil stains, but certainly not a lot. Easily cleaned up. I wonder if some cars experience more of the oil in the plenum that others?

No it doesn't hurt engine and with the clear bowl as the catch can, you can see how much it's collecting and empty as needed.
