The metal clips on the pads are the wear sensors. When the pad gets thin enough, the metal clip will touch the rotor and cause a high pitched brake squeal, notifying you to change your pads soon.

To reduce the squeal on the brakes, you can carefully appy some anti-squeal grease to the back of each brake pad. Alternatively, you could use a product like RacingBrake's brake shims. You can find those here:

Front OEM Brembo Pads:

Rear OEM Brembo Pads:
http://www.racingbrake.com/350Z_EVO_...er_p/bs961.htm

Make sure they ship you teh re-designed ones, or else you might have some problems. My review of the RacingBrake products is here:

Hope this helps.

yes, the front oem brembo pads come with them. They are very thin pieces on the fronts and they will come allready attached to the back of the front pads.

The rear oem pads use a different style shim and they are not included with the oem pads...you have to reuse them from the old pads.

Project Mu pads don't come with shims and I don't think you can reuse the old ones. But someone told me since the backing plate is so thick, it doesn't really need them.
