which plenum(sorry)

i know everyone is tired of plenum questions but i figured asking wouldnt hurt. i have an 04 5at coupe and was wondering whether to go with skunk2 or the motordyne. I plan on going with the 5/16 and hear skunk2 and motordyne are the most popular. currently im leaning toward the skunk2 b\c i can get it about $100 cheaper than the motordyne. is there really any major difference?? thanks

Cheaper doesn't necessarily mean better.

I hear a lot of praise for the Motordyne. I know a few how have it and they love it.

For reference sake, those are plenum spacers. filanj is referring to an actual plenum replacement piece (kinetix). I can't tell you personally which is better, spacer or plenum.

From what I know, the skunk2 is a composite unit (read as... plastic), and the motordyne seems to be made of aluminum or steel (probably aluminum). If you live in warmer weather like cali or florida, then you'll be fine with either. If you live in a place where it gets below 20 degrees or whatever the threshold is, you'll still be fine with the composite (skunk2) or the motordyne with some extra stuff (sold as the ISO thermal copper blahblah).

The MD unit seems to be roughly cnc machined. The skunk2 is probably injection molded plastic. You'll probably get better precision with the machined unit, though that doesn't necessarily say anything for fit and finish. People seem to be happy with it, though. I also haven't heard anything bad about the skunk, so I'm assuming people like it.

Basically, you probably can't go wrong with either. The design is fairly simple, and it's not exactly a high-wear part. Go with what you think is the best value as this mod should be pretty hard to screw up as far as manufacturing goes.

I believe the skunk will NOT allow you to use the engine cover but
the 5/16 will.

I have the motordyne stuff and it rocks. Cant speak for the other.
