If you don't want to replace the head unit you don't have to. That guy is full of $hit. Just tell him you want a hi/lo converter hooked up and wires ran for your system. I've added on aftermarket subs and an amp and kept my stock unit. If you look in your trunk to the left after removing the spare tire and all of the plastic you will see the bose amp. That is where they will run the hi/lo converter to give you RCA plugs. The remote wire is connected from the radio and power wire from the battery and a good ground. After that everything else is simple. Do you live near a Best Buy?

Best Buy can do it. Just tell them you want a Hi/Lo converter installed to run aftermarket subs and an amp. Tell them you also want them to install the wiring for the amp ieower wire, remote and ground. My best friend works at a Best Buy here and says any Best Buy with a radio install bay can do it for you. It shouldn't cost you anymore than 120 for parts and installation

yea that PAC converter is exactly what you need, i remember i was going to do this on my 05 maxima, and that was the exact part i needed. I also heard good things about that JL audio cleansweep but after doing some research alot of people told me that its more then what i need and just go with the PAC converter.

Yep, the guy is full of crap. I replaced all my door speakers with Eclipse and my sub with a Memphis. I added a Rockford amp for the sub also. I kept all in the stock locations (except for the sub amp). The difference in sound was night and day. Well worth the effort.

The H/L coverter is a quick fix. I would rather have everything run
direct ...but thats me...cleaner signal..no interference

If that guy said it can't be done you don't want him anywhere near your car anyhow. I took my car in the week I bought it and had every speaker changed, 2-amps installed, and a 10" sub mounted and still have the stock HU and navigation. I took my car into our local Alpine dealer who is also a friend, he has done amazing things with our boat, RV, Jeep and my husbands truck. You need to find someone knowledgable and actually be thankfull he didn't tear into your car and screw anything up. I had a small vibration in the decklid and I took the car back, they took everything apart and insullated the entire back end of my car. It sounds great and is quieter than stock! Good luck.

im going to take Aheros spot on this one... SEARCH!! theres a ton of threads covering this topic.
as mentioned, you could do a hi/lo, or (the method Id prefer if it was my car) you can get the signal BEFORE the bose amp, and go Hi-level input to your amp/s and now you have a full freq range to do whatever you wish with. do some homework on this.

Biggest problem with the G's right now is interior rattling depending on the year of your vehicle. When you start upgrading speakers and tearing/opening up panels; I'm pretty sure a lot of you have had your installers add dampeners or padding. Has anyone had any problems with rattling from their door panels or rear panels after a complete speaker upgrade? Just curious before I start upgrading mine.

if i wanted to replace speakers alone on the bose system, add no amp for the speakers(i will put one for a sub), would the sound quality be any better than the bose speakers? would i need the 2 ohm speakers or could i use 4 ohm off the bose amp?

if you start with a 2 ohm speaker, and go to a 4 ohm, you will cut your power in half. therefore, your new speakers will be seeing about 7-10 watts. (assuming the bose is even putting out 15-20 watts as is) thats where youre going to run into trouble. im not aware of any 2ohm speaker that would sound good enough to even bother with at that wattage. if youre going to go thru the trouble of replacing speakers, add an amp for them. it doesnt have to be a monster. even a little 30x2 would do fine for most "typicall" aftermarket speakers. youll be happier in the long run.
