Question about Diamon Graphite vs. Silverstone...
Question about Diamon Graphite vs. Silverstone...
I am just wondering if Diamond Graphite for the G coupe is the same paint (as in same paint code from the original paint manufacturer) as Silverstone for the Z. My dad has a Z in Silverstone and it is a beautiful paint. I am trying to decide between Laser Red and Diamond Graphite for my as-yet-to-be-ordered G coupe... from the coupes I've seen, I think the car looks its best in red, but whenever I see my dad's Z, I think to myself, "That's the color I want!"
This is all assuming I go with the coupe over the new TL... damn Acura for making this a hard decision!

Yes bro. D/G is the same as the Z's Silverstone. Actually up here in Canada Nissan calls it Siverstone too, same as D/G in the US.

i am most partial to DG, i do think red and black are very nice. the bright blue is a love it or hate it.
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.

i love the diamond graphite/silverstone on the coupe. i also like the red, but for me, i think the tail lights blend in too much. i like more of a contrast. have fun deciding!

Diamond Graphite and Silverstone are exactly the same plate. Just pop the hoods on cars with both colors and look at the paint code. The paint code is exactly the same. Why would you want to look at the TL instead? It is FWD so it isn't even in the same class.

Thanks for the info! I assumed they are the same but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask!
As to why am I looking at the TL... I am a gadget FREAK! All the fun stuff that car has in it makes my head spin.
The two cars each have their strong suits... there's no comparison between looks. The G had me at hello. But there's also no comparison between interiors... the TL's interior is in a different league. And for me, the TL felt very fast, handled very flat and showed some great grip when I threw it through some twisties... I never would have known it was front wheel drive just from test driving it. Obviously the G's performance is as much as I'll ever need. But you are right, it's very hard to compare them with both being in different classes. That is exactly why it's such a hard decision! I can't just compare each car feature for feature. I have to decide whether I value luxury, interior, and technology more than I value outright performance and the sleekest, sexiest damn car in any price range until you hit a Mercedes SL. Either way I go... this is a GOOD decision to have to make!

I have a G35C 6MT right now but interested in getting a 4 dr.
I looked and test drove a new TL and am very impressed with it. The interior quality and layout is what the G shoud be - no cheap plastics - real aluminum. DVD-audio system beats our Bose hands down. The driving although not as good as a rear drive is certainly the best FWD that I have driven. Up here in Canada it is not a bad thing. Unless you are driving 10/10 all the time you will not notice too much difference in everyday handling. Besides look at all these features - bi-xenon lights - with projector lights - D2S bulbs that so many people with G's want, outside rear view mirrors that tilt down on both sides when reversing - can be cancelled, much better sound insulation with thicker glass and using thinsulate for noise reduction, dual exhaust -square tips recessed into bumper (nicer than in our sedan), power lumber support, speed sensing windshield wipers, more intuitive ***** for radio - on/off is large round button with volume control nearest the driver - not like in G hard to find, larger tires than in our sedan - 235/45-17 - performance tires on 6 speed, beautiful 18" optional wheels, navi system with bluetooth handsfree system that can automatically connect with bluetooth cel phone, voice commands in English and French in Canada, touch screen system rather than joystick.
So there are a lot of features for the money. The only advantage of our G is that it drives a little better - the steering is a little more precise but the TL is quite close. When cruising at 120 kph (75 mph) tach shows only 2200-2300 rpm so I think that gas consumption is better. Also brake life is probably better. Engine is very smooth and poerful with 270 hp and 238 lbs-ft torque - lower than 260 lbs-ft in G. Not sure how it compares at the wheels.
So let us not slam the TL. It is a close competitor and also in Canada pricing is very competitive - G35S with premium package (sun-roof, memory seats, etc.) is $42,100 + 1250 Frt + PDI. TL is $40,800 + 950 freight + PDI. Navi in G is $3400 and in TL is $3200. So you can see that TL will give our G's competition as to best value for the money. Let us hope that this competion will force Infiniti to upgrade their interior and provide some of the features that are on many of our wish lists. Maybe - for 2004.5 or 2005??
