Sentra SE-R spec V ...????

One was trying to play with me on the freeway this morning...kept up with me so I passed him on an hill and then started to slow down a bit and about 30 seconds later saw him coming with a full head of steam in my rear view mirror, so dropped to 4th when he was about 20 yards behind me...kind of bothered me and didn't pull away from him until I shifted into 5th...but come on...I'm wondering if he had anything in that cause I looked up the specs on that and apparently they weigh about 200lbs more and only put out 175 horse power...how was this even close...????

Hmm... Spec V's are cool but should not be able to keep up with a G. As far as I know there not many mods for the 2.5 engine. I believe its the same engine as the 2.5 Altima.
I have raced one and he had no change, but they can smoke a stock, and lightly modified civic in their stock form.

Don't worry about it he just had a lot of speed before you could react. You might of been going to slow for 4th so your car had to wind up while he was tacking out in top gear.

Re: Sentra SE-R spec V ...????

Not to duspute you but the Sentra SER and SPEC V weigh about 700 lbs less than the G-35 Coupe automatic. They weigh in at 2761 for the SER and 2710 for the Spec V. The G35 Coupe with automatic weighs 3422 as per Nissan and Infiniti's web sites. I also own a 2004 SER Sentraand it is pretty fast but noting compared to the G35. They top out around 130 mph but it gets there pretty quick.

The weight I got for that Sentra is 3609 from here (don't really understand how that car weighs that much though):

That site has the incorrect weight for the Sentra.

Here's a link to R&T were the curb weight is 2785 lbs.: http://roadandtrack.com/reviews/road...rious_data.pdf

Seriously you think a car that is smaller and has a 4-banger can weight more I dont think that is really possible.

Re: Sentra SE-R spec V ...????

I have a Spec-V w/ some new cams, header, piggyback ecu, cai, exhaust, and downpipe and all I can say, it's pretty cheap for the kind of performance potential it can get. This car's pretty torquey and in stock form, I still remember spinning the tires switching going from 3rd to 4th gear. It only costed me $18500 out the door fully loaded...........not bad for a car that's capable of the low 15s on the qtr, but not much of a contender w/ the G35. I say it's a cheap race bucket.

Nissan's definitely made a strong comeback.............setting the bar much higher for the competition to reach.
