Car won't start?!?!

A friend of mine and I installed a MD 5/16 and the isothermal, we also installed the injen cai. He drove it yesteday without a problem, but when he went out today, he was in a bank line and turned the engine off, when he tried to restart nothing?? Now we can get it started if he pumps the gas pedal, then it runs fine, no CEL's. Any clue????

I think you have a leak. Make sure all the bolts are tight and all the hoses are hooked up correctly. Check the intake that it's connected and sitting properly.

def a leak somewhere. double check to make sure you haven't accidentally misplaced any of the gaskets.

that's what happens if you go aftermarket and dont know what youre doing. what are you going to say if you take it to the dealership? not trying to flame, but you guys put in simple mods. what could go wrong? maybe mixed up vacuum hose or the bolts on the plenum isn't torque to spec?

OK, well lets clear that up......I have installed 7+ spacers in just about the last 2 weeks......I am looking for help in a possible diagnosis before I admit to doing something wrong......as for my skill doing these....well I haven't had one complaint yet, and I have installed evereything from the simple bolt ons to the medium difficulty stuff. I understand your not flaming me, but this will help in the diagnosis hopefully. I am actually starting to think it's a dirty MAF sensor, and I will be swapping mine and his to see. I keep you all posted.

Well we pulled the MAf and swapped it....nope, we uninstalled the spacer and took out the isothermal spacer....nope reinstalled everything with thermo gasket....nope, reinstalled everything back to stock....nope!!!
If he tries to start the car he has to give it some gas to get it over the initial start up, once he has done that the car runs fine. The only other factor there is that we installed was the Injen CAI w/new filter. As it is now the car is back to stock with the exception of the CAI and heading to the dealer tommorrow. As soon as I find out I will post. Thanks for the replies peeps.

newbs always blame everything on the CAI lol. Yeah, definitely double and tripple check everything. It's usually something small which makes a big difference lol. Definitely don't take it to the dealer as is. Take everything back off and return it to stock.

OK here is what the dealer said: He say's that the car is running too lean!!! My friend is on his way to the dealer now to see whats up??? While I agree the car maybe running lean, I have installed so many of these now on cars with much more including mine, and we don't have that problem. The question still remains because I think the dealer is just trying to blow him off.
