I have begun the process of the Lemon Law claim based on the engine burning excessive amounts of oil.

Wish me luck.

I wish I could LL law mine also but I bought mine used w/13,000 miles. I have
an '05 w/ 20,000 miles its a manuel btw. My c5 with over 75000 miles
never burnt oil. It would burn maybe 1/2 qt every 3000 miles. And I put a Z06 motor in my '99 no problem ever w/ oil consumption other vette owners had the problem though. But Chevy fixed the rings voila prob fixed.

Here you go guys...here are some pics of my revup after I had it torn down. The HUGE problems that I discovered it the piston ring lands are VERY weak. Every land was either fractured or broke completly. It seemed that on every piston it was on the outside side of the piston, where there is more stress. The oil build up on the piston was severe, and the side of the where the "coating" is was applied thin and was already worn down. This is with 18K on the motor. The reason I am spending my own money on this is I don't want the same Sh** happening again. IMO the pistons are the whole problem. Thought I would post these.....

You should send this to the people at Infiniti. I wonder if this is an issue with the 2007 models???

Who know's if its been corrected...sh** they never thought they had a problem to begin with so why fix something that "isn't broke" I think that this is it as far as the consumption thing goes...

Well the pictures have allwed me to make my decision on weather I was going to build the engine when I did the TT. If these are the problems while going NA, FI can't be good!

I agree Iwas originally ging to sc mine w/vortech. But I scrapped thosed plans
after this latest saga w/oil consumption issues. I will not go FI with this car
unless I build up the internals. I may end up giving it to the wife. She isn't
interested in speed just bling for her. So I can go get he new M3 or maybe the new Lexus ISF.

I hear you about the broken ring lands. Unfortunately, I can't tell by looking at your pictures what the damage looks like. Are the lands between the deck of the piston and the first compression ring broken, or between the rings? What do your engine guys think about the damage (causes, etc.)?

i have told most of you guys that i have already had my engine changed out and a new one put in at 10,000 miles. well it is happening all over again at 4,000 later with the new engine. i am having the same problem with smoke billowing out of the exhaust. the knocking noises telling me that there is no oil in it. so now i am furious with infinity for letting this go on and not doing anything to fix the rev-up motor problems. they have told me that they dont know what to do.

I want to thank all the members for putting this up, this is very good information for people who have oil consumption issues. This will help people in the future who want to know what steps they need to follow in order to rectify their problems with Infiniti if in fact that is what it comes down to.
