New Engine Update

Just got off of the phone with Infiniti. It will be a couple months before they have a solution to the problem. No wonder they had my dealership give me the car back.

Those of you waiting to hear back from Infiniti be advised.

Start your claims now.

The title does say "new engine update" Most likely, from the oil consumption test that went awry. Anywho, I've checked mine and it seems to be fine so *crosses fingers* I will not have to go through this.

I'm in the middle of my 1st 1000 mile oil consumptiono test. I def want a new
motor regardless of the fix. When my service rep called me back he said I had almost no oil and I was getting an oil change @ about 2800 miles.

That is insane.

With that kind of burning, I would demand a new motor and the fix. You are correct.

Good luck to all with this continued problem.

It relates bad oil consumption tests. This is a followup thread to one called "New Engine". Sorry for not making that clear.

after over 5k miles i've used about .25 of a quart of oil with some aggressive driving and mostly normal driving (had to redline it a few times

Those of you that have consumption problems, what are you doing differently? If I'm going to run out of warranty soon, I want this problem to rear its head before it's too late.

bythabay: What year is your car? I may be wrong, but I recall reading that the problem is mostly with the 6MT built after 04 (RevUp engine).

Does this oil consumption problem start right off when the car is new, or can it suddenly happen out of the blue even though you've gone without any consumption problems for say, 25,000 miles or whatever?

According to the tech I talked to at Infiniti a couple of weeks back, it seems to only be a problem with the rev-up engine. He also said that until they figure out exactly what the problem is, Infiniti will not pay to have the engine replaced to try and correct the problem. Supposedly they did that for a number of cases recently here in SoCal, and it didn't solve the problem.

My '06 6MT has the problem, but until I'm convinced they really know what the problem is I'm just going to sit tight and keep a close eye on the engine.

Infiniti can't make up their mind.......?

Blow the engine up then Infiniti will be forced to come up with an answer!
When it's brought in on a "Hook" they'll figure out you had a problem.....
