on another note this is one of the stupidest things to argue about ever. who cares if you have to look down and read the tach or use a shift light as long as you're driving well it doesn't matter IMO.... just my $0.02

If you cant drive your car without bouncing it off the redline, you shoulda gotten the AT. ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

I'm just used to the car, so by the noise of the engine/exhaust I know when to shift. I imagine that's the case for most here, but for optimum gas mileage or when the car is cold, I shift around 3K. On average for daily driving, I shift around 3.5K - 4K.
I thought the whole point of the shift light is so that you don't redline it / hit the rev limiter, so why set it for the "daily driver" setting?
Just figure out how long it takes you to shift once you see the light and set it at an RPM so that you don't redline or hit the rev limiter.

I normally just shift by the sound of the car (exhaust) usally it turns about to be around 4k. I have the shift light set at 6800 for the aggressive driving times. It really depends on your driving habits and what you feel comfortable with. I agree with icab, set it for your agressive driving times not your daily driving.
