I didnt know that until I read the manual tonight...

In the sedan, if you have say 3rd gear selected, it will shift 1,2,3 for you. However in the coupe, it will stay in the gear your select.

whoa! I didn't know that. So your saying from a complete stop you can toggle between the gears in the sedan A/T?

In the coupe you can't move gears up or down while not in motion.

Yes, you can change the gear on the sedan at a standstill. It'll run through all the gears up to that one.. you're selecting the top gear, not the only gear. In manual mode, it does seem to be less eager to downshift to me, but I haven't really played with it, as I'm still breaking in my engine.

The main difference with the coupe, is that as it downshifts, it drops the number, so if it drops from 4th to 3rd, you'll now see 3 in the display, and it won't go back to 4th until you tell it to.

I'm not truly impressed by either method. I think it should have a normal, a sport, and a "when I say 3rd, I mean 3rd" mode. Right now all we have is normal and "3rd, pretty please."

Re: Tiptronic trans between Sedan/Coupe are different?

if you wanted 3rd to be in 3rd, then maybe you should've gotten the manual trans.....
automatic trans werent made to be playing with the gears left and right, just let the car shift by itself and if you want more power just press the gas pedal and it will automatically shift down to the appropriate gear for you... isnt that the whole point of auto trans? so you dont have to play with the shifter
:-P

Hey RR Dude, The 5 A/T is fun man, you just don't have to move your left foot or your right hand. LOL

The point of an automanual is it's an auto in commuter traffice, and you can play with it on the weekends.
