Post Purchase Vette dilema
I was going to buy my pops 98 C5 convertible which is super sweet it has a ram air intake system, power chip, full stainless custom exhaust, cross drilled 13inch rotors with corvette calipers, lowered suspension, limo tints and it is black with tan roof... with about 55 K on it ... fully loaded except for the heads up display.
Serious car man...!!!
FOR 35K canadian .. (deal from my pops)
But it is outta warranty now, and I am concerned about reliability and the roof leaks on the drivers side kinda.
and I can only drive it in the summer.....
so I would have to get another car..or keep my Mitsu eclipse for the winter and use it which is still under the price of the G by almost HALF !!!
BUT ...... ITS HIS old car.. YA know???...
So....... Dilema.
I put down the deposit and a while ago and wait the arrival of the G Coupe 6speed for alot of the reasons we all did...
My dilema is I hope I dont kick my self in the *** one day.
I am happy with my choice.. ecstatic acutally, very excited.
I just wanted to get some other opinions for you G's

Great reasoning... Your dad's old car? Big deal. You'd be getting a better deal with your dad's "old" car than a new G35, especially if your dad took great care of the car. I'd probably never buy a used Vette from just someone, but this is your dad's car and you know where it has been.
Then again, I was shopping for a E46 M3 for myself and ended up with a new Z06 Vette. Now.. I'm looking at the G35SC for my wife. It's a great car. Not quite an M3, but it comes close enough considering the price tag.

How weird. When I read your post it was like the voices in my head talking. For the last 4 years I've been wanting to get a new Vette to replace the one I needed to sell when my son was born. Now with about 35K to spend I could go out and get a near new Vette without a warranty or something new. About 3 weeks ago a G35 coupe passed me and I had to catch it to find out what it was. Went down to the Infiniti dealership and they had a silver one sitting there for 35K (MSRP). I took it for a ride and bought it on the spot.
Naturally, the next morning I followed someone else's brand new Vette and my heart just about stopped - what had I done? I could've had that!!! Anyway the more I drive my G35 the more I appreciate it. It has more than enough power, outhandles the Vette (IMHO), is much more comfortable, doesn't rattle (yes the new Vette still rattle), it seats four and most importantly is brand new with a six year warranty. I've had Vettes for most of my adult life and while very pretty - they're very hard to live with day in and day out.
I have no regrets.

The G35 is more of a GT/Touring car, while the Vette is more of a flat out sports car. The Vette outperforms the G in every single performance category, but it's smaller inside, noisier all around, and generally less comfortable and practical. If speed is your thing, I say get the Vette. If a little more comfort is a priority, get the G!

Thanks fellas for all of your replies and time.
I ordered the G about 2 weeks ago ... the car is flat our gorgeous, I saw my first one today, exactly like what I ordered, minus the NAV with hazards on the side of the road ... I pulled over and spoke with the guy, he loved it .. (how could you not?) The guy drove away and it sounded SWEET .. nice fricken ride ..
The vette is one heavy a$$ car .. nice .. but like you guys mentioned .. probably not the Most practical and outta warranty .. I guess its a second car to have considering I would need a winter car... .... when I settle as a old man, maybe I'll get one then .. or heck ...maybe buy pops replacement for the C5 .... A new Z06 ... (like Sal)
I dunno .
either way the G's on the way .. no looking or turnin back now and after seeing it tonight, it sealed the deal for me.
OHH Yeah.. as a side note .. my ratty brother bought the vette ..or at least plans to ..
HAHAHAH .. what a joke ..
anyways ....again .. thanks for your time and comments.
