Hi damani,

first off, welcome to the site.

the "problems" you are currently experiencing are routine maintenance and are issues you would eventually face, in any car you own. as i understand it, you need new brake pads, potentially new rotors, and an alignment.

if your car is an automatic, depending on the miles, the brake components may be covered under warranty. otherwise all of the above would be costs on your end. things such as brake pads and clutch for instance always are- they're considered consumables.

if you havent paid already you may be able to get brake components cheap (for example, ~$700 for pads and rotors all around or $200 for pads all around) but would still need the dealer to install it- assuming you dont want to/are unable to do it yourself.

How are the hawk pads in terms of performance?

Luckily, I'm still under warranty. Had my rear pads replaced yesterday for free...

on hawk pads- low dust but imo poorer feel vs oem and axxis

beyond feel, i dont know about performance #s. i wouldnt be surprised if they were all similar.. either way though, none of the 3 are designed for extended competitive use afaik. having said that, i think axxis feels best.

When you say replaced for free do you mean you brought pads in and had them switch them out? I am under warranty, but i didnt think normal wear and tear would be replaced

HPS pads have a more linear feel to them. They don't grab hard with little to no force like the OEM's do. Initially, you may not think the HPS are grabbing as well, but I am certain that the stopping power is the same, it just gets applied more evenly.

I use Hawks HPS too. They stop just as well as stock, but lacks to bite of the OEM Brembos. Once you figure that out, you'll apply the necessary pedal pressure. The one great thing about HAWKS is considerably less brake dust than the Brembos.

I have to concur on how easy it is to change the pads yourself. After being quoted $700 to replace my fronts, I quickly learned how to do it myself and never looked back. With the tire off already, it should take no longer than 20 minutes per wheel. I actually know how to rebuild the caliper already.

Yup, as others have said. The squeaking is normal if it's a 6MT.

Just get less sporty pads if it's a problem for you.

G-zuz! $600-$700?! Makes you wonder if you can find a G owner who needs brakes and charge that person half of that.

Pretty nice little profit there, assuming you won't get sued if something else goes wrong(like..hey, ever since you changed the brakes, my transmission whines, or my tires rumble)

I suggest everyone that has a squeaky brake problem to go to the dealer RIGHT NOW AND HAVE THEM REPLACE YOUR ROTORS BEFORE THE SO CALLED BRAKE WEAR CAMPAIGN WARRANTY GOES OUT!.

I'm pissed because I take my car in for an oil change and I get a call from the service guy that I need to spend $575 DOLLARS WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON NEW FRONT ROTORS!!!!!!!!!!!I have an 04 coupe that only has 26,000 miles on it. we drive it about 20 miles per day!

Can someone tell me how the brake rotors need to be replaced????????????????

Now the guy tells me that we are not covered under warranty because we passed the 3 year mark for our brakes???????????It was just in 11-06 and my car only has 26,000 miles on it.....

Sorry this is frustrating because evrytime we go fo an oil change, we always complain about the brakes but they tell us that is how the brakes are and you have to press harder to make the sound go away----A BUNCH OF BS.
Mine is an 04 AT with 26000 miles on it!

Do you think they will replace it??
SORRY FOR THE LONG A** RANT
