Snow Tire Success

Snow Tire Success
Just wanted to share that my G35 Coupe AT w/ Bridgestone Blizzak tires made it through an 18" snow storm, barely plowed roads, and no sand - with grace. No fishtailing and no spinning. We left it on auto. Actually, it handled much better than my Honda Accord V 6 frontwheel which was always a b---h in the snow. I have four rims dedicated to snows, not flashy, but good enough to get beat up in a New England winter. Hope this storm isn't a harbinger of things to come.

Re: Snow Tire Success
I drove with OEM 18" rims with LM-22s. I had no problems aside from minor uphill difficulty... nothing alarming. VDC and snow tires make me feel confident that I can get to where I need to go! It helps to have a manual transmission to prevent using the brake pedal, btw.

I will never kno wht its like to drive my G in the snow. But I drove it in the rain for the first time today (I didn't want to get my baby skidded into by accident or anything, but I was caught out in the rain today). The Pilots aren't particularly too adept at rain either.

Small hills, medium hills, big hills, I can get up all of those. Unpacked snow, packed snow, ice, slush can do as well. I have blizzaks ws50 and they handle winter great. I will say the same about my previous car as the orginal poster. I had a2000 v6 accord coupe. The G with these blizzak tires is better in the snow than the accord with stock all seasons(it was a lease). And as far as the pilots in the rain, I will say that if its warm out, anything above lets say 40-45 they handle great, no issues all this year (just dont drive them like you would in dry weather)

Saying its better than the Accord isn't saying much! We've had two accords and my prelude, all sucks major *** in the snow, no matter what tires were on it. What size tires do you have on it now?

Re: Snow Tire Success
I got Blizzaks WS-50 on mine, and while they are certainly acceptable, I'm not sure if they are better than my 98 Accord coupe in Minnesota winters. I slipped in several places during a big snow storm last month, and had difficulty getting up a very moderate incline (some front drive econobox that was behind me had no problems with that particular incline). All those places did have nice big ice patches, but I don't recall the Accord slipping as much. And I had the factory tires on that Accord for over 90,000 miles!
Still, I bet if I didn't have those Blizzaks on my G I'd have been in far worse trouble.

I have the blizzak ws50 225/50/17 front and 225/55/17 rear. I can say that I did better than at least 75% of other cars on the road. Havent seen one G in 3 days hehehe.

What do you mean by minor uphill difficulty? I live on a big hill, so its a bit of an issue for me!

A lot of slip lightage and tire slippage. If I am driving at my own pace I don't have no problems. But when its packed snow. 20 degrees, and stop and go traffic, I have to drop down to 1st gear and just let the car drive up on its own torque barely touching the gas. If I give any decent amount of gas, the slip light comes on and kills throttle. Nothing alarming though. At least not for me. I'm sure the guy behind me might have been scared with the amount of snow the LM-22s kick up behind me.
