it's been like four years since econ 101, so I may be rusty, but NISMO products are VERY sought after. If the products were discontinued all together, theoretically bring up the price of the products to the public, but If NISMO is working on new products to replace the discontinued ones, this economic model will not work for your argument. If NISMO is not developing replacement products for their current ones available, I would assume that discontinuing them would actually hurt them. If they wanted to maximize their gain they wouldn't discontinue them, they would just make fewer of them available to the public which would increase increase the revenue earned, not eliminating it completely with the end of these products.

My thought on this is that NISMO has a good share of these items sitting around, still available for purchase. As mentioned, they are pricey. So not making more isn't altogether a bad thing, it just indicates that they have already reached most of their market. New items will be made for the new model, while older items remain in stock until sold.

If I was going to keep my '05 for years longer, I'd be pretty stoked about this.

I've had about 10 japanese retailers and a couple U.S. distributors of jdm parts call nismo japan and they are completely out of stock of weldina exhausts for cpv35 and the company has not shipped any out for over 2 months! So unless nismo is lying, I'm out of luck
