Might sell the Coupe...opinions wanted (long)

Hey everyone. I've got an '05 BS Coupe in the garage that I'm thinking about selling because I just don't drive it enough to justify owning it (5055 miles in 2 years...it's a nice weather only driver).

Living in Colorado, I've been planning on selling it in early spring to attract more potential buyers. But on Monday, I received a letter in the mail from my local Infiniti dealership saying they're having a private event to purchase high quality luxury cars between years '95 and '05 for, as they say, great prices (with no pressure to buy...again, their words). I'm planning on taking my car over there today to see what they'd give me for it but wanted to get your opinions...has anyone ever heard of something like this? Is it a ploy? What might I be able to get for the car with the following in it (plus what's listed above):

- premium package
- performance wheel and tire package
- clear bra
- wheel insurance (can this transfer?)
- ding/dent insurance (can this transfer?)
- perfect condition

Thanks for reading everyone. I don't want to leave the G35 community, and I don't have to (car's paid off), but it might be time to be realistic. Thanks for reading.

Ploy, scam, same thing. They AREN'T interested in giving you a decent deal. They are ONLY interested in getting your **** into the dealership so you can spend another $35 grand. Tell you what. Call them and ask what they would outright purchase the car for w/o buying a new car from them.

matt.....

Thats an old trick the dealerships have used to draw the people in in hopes of upgrading them into another loan/lease/purchase.

I received several letters from a couple of Infiniti dealers regarding the same subject. Only to find some hungry salesperson looking to fill his quota for the month.

If you feel you need to sell the car....sell it privately and buy something else with no strings attached....you'll be much better off.

My $.02

I already tried to get them to give me a quote over the phone (it seemed like a pretty easy number to give out).

But they did say "just come on down and we'll talk about it" right?

I put my car for sale on Craigslist, the same day 2 people call me saying they like buy my car at a great price.

I called and asked, they said book value for my car is $23,999-24,000.

I have a 2005 Black G with 26800 miles, everthing except navi. even kbb saying my car is worth $26,300 trade in price.

So I guess your car is around $25 book value. how much do you want?

KBB says the car is worth $31,800 private party, and $28,700 trade in. Even though my scam detector is going off pretty loud, I might stop by on my way home tonight and see what they say. I wouldn't even consider selling it if I couldn't get the private party value (I know, it's a long shot...but like I said, I don't NEED to sell it, so walking away is easy for me).

well, you mise well just stop by and see what they tell you. If they keep trying to get you into another car, just leave. Thats the worst thing that could come of the whole situation.

Your car is kind of in a strange spot money wise. If they were to give you even 28k they'd have to retail it for 32-34k and that is how much they are brand new, so dont be surprised with a 26k offer.

I'd suggest listing it on this website in that case and giving someone else a good deal on a practically new g.

At 1 point I was the same way, needed to be realistic. I have an 06 with
low miles and drive other toys but DAMN I just could not let it go.

So you have to ask yourself this question (now make sure to look in the mirror as I did..LOL). Is it time to move on to something else?

As for the marketing ploy. Thats what it is

Good luck on your decision!

I'm in a similar situation . . . my '04 has less than 6,000 miles on it. If I decide to unload it, it will only be so I can replace it with something else. Right now, the only car I'd seriously consider is the Shelby GT, and that's only if I could get my hands on one for sticker price.
