xkoraznboix:

The damper isn't liquid or gas filled. It utilizes a very hard, ABS plastic that is very resilient to heat.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

No, no flames at all.

It just that if someone is going to sell something and claim it gives more RWHP, then it should be true.

BTW, the claim on freshalloy was that it would indeed give more RWHP.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

Where are you getting this? I never said or claimed it increased horsepower. I really am confused at this rant you're going on how I claim this give you more horsepower.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

I didn't say that YOU made the HP claims. The guy on the freshalloy thread said that it would put more HP to the rear wheels. If you are the same guy, then yes, YOU said it. If not, then don't sweat it.

Just go to freshalloy and read the thread for yourself. It's easy to find. I believe the guys screen name is Wai-Jai or something like that. He's definitely a BS artist, from what I can tell.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

This isn't a homemade ETD. I source these from a local distributor, whose manufacturer is overseas. They are available for Hondas, RX7s, S13s, S14s, Miatas. We figured out how to apply it onto the Z/G chassis and wah lah.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

If someone is selling a product under false pretenses (which Moog did on the FRESHALLOY thread), then I'm going to speak up.

He claimed that this mod will give you more HP to the rear wheels.

I see he hasn't made this claim on this particular thread, which is a good thing.

Too many ignorant people that will blindly believe everything they're told. I like to help level the playing field.

Have a nice day.

Here's what he said, copied directly from the freshalloy thread:

"Anyone interested in an engine torque damper can check out my auction. Does pretty much the same thing as solid motor mounts...reduces engine movement, so more power is transferred to the wheels."

Paints a very clear picture in my mind: it firms up the engine/chassis connection so when throttle is applied, torque delivery is more immediate, as the soft engine mounts no longer "soak up" as much intially. He never said it added "HP" or horsepower to the car, nor does the nature of it suggest that to anyone who has a even a rudimentary understanding of such a device. It's a "torque damper"; which sounds a lot like a shock absorber, and is. It limits the engine's twisting as throtle is applied more than the stock setup. He's not trying to sell snake oil. It's a valid, inexpensive engine mod that a driver will notice a positive effect from. Give the guy a break.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

I was waiting for his statement from Fresh Alloy to make it over to this thread...I don't see any mention of HP gains...I think this is a legitimate, inexpensive mod that appears to yield results

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

Yeah I dont' know where he gets that I claimed increase in power. For you domestic heads, it's also called a torque strap. Google it "torque strap"

Very common mod.

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

The idea seems sound enough...and I am familiar with solid engine mounts used in track cars.

The question no one asked here is---any problems with bracing your motor up like that????

Re: Engine Torque Damper NICE Mod!

Well by "bracing" I'll assume you mean a solid type (as that would be the only kind that would effect anything), if so its not a solid mount, nor does it act like one. Its a damper, so the bracing you refer to isnt a factor. You wont notice it at idle and or at cruising speeds, unlike solid engine mounts that will vibrate the hell out of the chassis.

In theory this mod give you the pros of solid engine mounts, without the cons.
