The results were interesting...

He pulled up beside me as I was at the light at the end of the freeway ramp... The ramp merges with the main road but you have to wait for the light to turn green before taking off. I was in the inside lane...
I look over and give him the thumbs up.. He just looks away...
So I'm like whatever... I wasn't expecting him to race, but when the light on the main road turned red there was a slight delay and he jumps ahead a little bit... So I'm lik.. OK he wants to try me. I switch to MM mode, our light turns green and I take off (VDC on) The mere fact that I had the inside lane gave me about 1/2 car length which I kept for the entire trip up to @ 65 MPH before the next light catches un as it turns red. We are both at the front of the line again. This time I turn VDC off. He starts revving his engine up. I also look up and noticed that his lane is closed 1500 feet ahead due to construction. The light turns green and we both take off... I get my nose ahead of his first and am 1/2 car length ahead (his front bumper at my door) as we approach 30 MPH. It's a 3 lane road so I move to the far right to allw him to take the middle lane. As I am going into 2nd gear he moves up on me- now his bumper is at my front wheel. As I approach 3rd we are accelerating at the same rate. Before going into 3rd I pull ahead (again his front bumper at my door but not as far back as before) I shift to 3rd and he is edging up. We beak it off as we see the light in the distance turns red. Final result: we are neck and neck as I was in 3rd gear. The next intersection was bright enough that I noticed that he either had Brembos or his calipers were painted, but it sounded more like a modified Auto the way he was revving it up as opposed to a 6MT... I wasn't sure. Anyway he then looks over and gives me the thumbs up. This time, I just look away. As the light turns green, he lays down some serious rubber. I just let him go ahead, greatly impressed by the rubber he laid down... wow... I think that I saw some smoke...

Kahboom, looks like the only mods you've got is the K&N. Did you notice more power when you installed the K&N and that little bit of extra "oomph" made a difference in such a close race or do you think the guy just might not have launched as well as you? I've heard people claiming crazy hp increases with the K&N so I'm just curious if that might have been a factor...

I think that I've noticed a slight difference in throttle response (quicker)- then again our stock engines respond so quickly that it is hard to tell if there is a measurable difference plus I installed it shortly after break in and have noticed an increase in performance simple because the car is now broke in. I think that the guy may not have launched as well but none-the-less it didn't seem like he had what I would consider a poor launch. I did hear a rapid"cherp-cherp-cherp-cherp" from his tires off the line.

I wish I can run into that situation. I drove a sedan and I was a lot more hesitant the my coupe. It seems that the power wasnt there till like 3500k. The sedan cannot keep up with the coupe UNTIL its been modified. There are diffrences in a lot of things in the 2 cars witch is in the favor of the coupe. Not by much but very lil. Only thing better the sedan has over the coupe is weight. I drove the sedan and I couldnt even get the tires to break loose. Only when on a hard turn.

Some things that are a lil diffrent in the sedan.
1. Cams
2. Exhaust
3. Trans
4. And the biggest is the ECU
5. Suspention

But they are very minimal diffrences. Thats why stock sedans are dynoing between 200 - 215 RWHp and the coupes are at 220 - 235

Not bashing the sedan at all still a nice car but just jelious that I cant be in that situation a show whos boss

If I was to guess you raced a MT coupe and the driver wasnt used to shifting it yet. Good race.

Yesterday on the way to the gym I see a red G with dealer plates on(Ramsey). I pull up and see a cutie inside on a cell phone. She noticed me right away and gave me a smile Too bad the light changed so quick and we had to go seperate ways.

When I drive a sedan- the loaner- it feels just as responsive- though I can tell more of a difference at higher RPMs... that's when our coupes really break lose.

In retrospect, I should have tried brake-torquing just to see what the results would have been then. I usually don't do that because it's not very good for the tranny

Ha Ha Ha this WHOLE time I thought Kahboom drove a Sedan LOL.. WTF was I thinking. I thought this was a Sedan Coupe race. Im sorry for my ranting and raving post from early this mourning.. I love racing coupes I always win.. Never raced a sedan as they are all older people or moms so racing is not at the top of there list of things to do..

LOL.. I would be pretty impressed if I pulled that off in a Sedan. Although it may not be impossible under the right circumstances.
